Just Like to add some more info relating to the story about the Ex Trans Am Boss 302 ( reference # 90413 ).
Firstly the documented history about these Factory Backed "team" race cars is excellent. However I would like to make sure that one particular car is not forgotten and actually brings to a total of five surviving examples of these cars. Chassis/VIN car # 9F02M148624 was one of the seven special mustangs made in late 1968 and went to Bud Moore's workshop with two others. The car was built to full Trans Am race specs but was never raced in America. The Reason being that somebody high up in Ford management decided that the car should be "sold" to a guy by the name of Allan Moffat and sent to Australia. The car was not quite finished mechanically when the new owner arrived at Bud's workshop to pick it up. Allan himself had to help fit the engine and gearbox into the car before it could be taken to the airport and FLOWN to Australia in aa Qantas Jet. Its first race meeting was in March 1969 and it won convincingly against other older mustangs and Australian V8 powered race cars. To cut a long story short this car raced in Australia and New Zealand from 1969 till 1974 and is in the Guineess book of records because it won 101 races from 151 starts. Its major opposition for most of those years was a Z28 Camaro with a 454 alloy headed race motor, which the mustang could regularly beat. 9F02M148624 is still alive and well" down under" and is maintained in spectacular race condition complete with its Quad Webbered Boss 302 engine (thats how it was always raced in Australia. The car has legendary/ Iconic status in Australia and makes regular appearances at race tracks all over the country to perform 'display ' laps with other famous Aussie race cars-and by God the old Boss can still perform. I hope everybody finds my story interesting, I just wanted people to know about this car so it is not forgotten in America, after all it started life as one of a batch of very special Fprd Cars. Thankyou
