"Flo the Mini Cooper" needs a new home!
Next week in Monterey on Saturday night at 6:00PM, I am auctioning off at no reserve a really special and extremely rare original 1275S Mini Cooper. I have a long-term restoration just finishing up and a new to me, pre-war race car for next year's Mille Miglia and Le Mans Classic, so some room needs to be made in my own garage.
This is Lot No. 202, the second car on Saturday night. This is a miserable position and the car is likely to be largely ignored and well undervalued. There is a great chance Keith Martin or one of his boys will be commenting in the next issue of the Sports Car Market Letter something to the effect of "undersold" or "the deal of the weekend!"

While millions of Mini's were built an actual real genuine 1965 1275S FIA example is just about as rare as a production car can get. Factor in time, racing and rust and there are likely just a handful like this one left in the world.
The car sports its original correct front and rear Period C (1965) UK plates "FLO 979C." I have all the original log-books, MOT's, tax stamps, old V5 document as well as current California title, license and registration. The current and transferable California Plates are matching "FLO 979C" giving the car true world-class dual identities for both a UK / USA enthusiast and potential future owner.
This is an all "matching numbers" example that has zero time on a fresh rebuilt engine by specialist James Millar in San Diego, California. The car comes with three period fitted suitcases containing all the traveling race, rally and touring spares one could ever possibly need. There are five fresh FIA period correct tires on their original ultra-rare Cooper Rims with scrub-in time only on them. There is also a set of new un-used spare wheels.
Except for the removable roll-bar, three-point FIA-dry-chemical fire system and race belts the car remains completely bone-stock as delivered new in London in the Fall of 1964. The rear seats have road belts and this has been a long-term favorite ride for my children to school and myself back and forth to the office.
I ran this car in the Tour de France where it was a "giant killer" on the hill climbs/special stages and quite able to hold its own on the track. The original freshly restored seats accompany the car and I have a crate of original documents, records, receipts, photos etc... going back to day one as well.
This car has current FIA HTP documents. It is turn-key road/race ready and in need of nothing but an new enthusiastic owner ready for more fun than should be legal.
Some things to keep in mind:
-Perfect car for use in any of the main Euro FIA Sanctioned Tours, Races and Rallies.
-Turn-key, ready to hit the street, track anywhere at anytime!
-Current California Title, License, Registration with matching plates "FLO 979C" and corresponding old UK period plates "FLO 979C" V5, old log and all original records and UK documents from new!
-Matching numbers, no rust or accident damage ever!
-Spax Adjustable Shocks, Oil-Cooler, Smiths Tachometer, Cooper Shift rod extender, Fog Lamps, Fitted "Period" Luggage, race/rally spare kits and too many numerous other goodies
-FIA HTP Documents, UK British Motor Heritage Trust Confirmation
Document, all original records and receipts from day one to the
present.
-Likely to be the single best deal of the Monterey Madness week of festivities and guaranteed bragging rights that you stole the show!
If anyone is interested in additional assistance with this car or would like to learn more, they are warmly welcome to call or email me at anytime. I will be on-hand in Monterey from Monday night August 15th and would be happy to assist with any pre-purchase inspections, test drives as needed.
Warm regards always,
