Ferrari’s radical 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer first appeared at the Turin show in 1971, and its exotic mid-engine DOHC flat V-12 180° layout was to set the company’s high performance course for the next 20 years. The 365 was the first Ferrari super sports car. The engine was derived from the company’s three-litre Formula 1 car (world champion in 1975/77 with Niki Lauda), and the 365 BB was designed to meet the challenge of the Lamborghini Miura, Countach and the Maserati Bora. The BB series was also Ferrari’s last entirely hand-built production car and the last car where Enzo Ferrari was personally involved in the design and the construction of the car.

Production of the 365 GT4 BB began in late 1973 as a ’74 model, and 387 were built before they were superseded by the 512 in 1976. Collectors prefer the earlier 365, which is significantly more rare, faster, lighter, stronger, giving the driver a Formula One feeling. The 512 BB was a compromise to fulfil the American environmental regulation, which the 365 BB never met. Road & Track magazine called it “the fastest road car we’ve ever tested” when it recorded 175 mph in 1975. Ferrari claimed even 181 mph. The first production car ever with top speed over 300 km/h.

Ferrari describes the 365 GT4 BB in its museum in Modena as one of the milestones in Ferrari super sports car history (see picture). An investment with still a lot of potential.

This lhd car is in exceptional condition and very original. The owner is a collector and owns the car since 18 years. It was maintained by German specialist Reinhard Schürer. The first owner was Antonietta Verlicchi, who also owned an 250 GT. When she died aged 83 in 1990 the car was transferred to Pietro Bottoni who sold it to the current owner in 1998. It has the original tool set and lots of history, etc. and comes with very unique and original “Jute” prototype seats (see picture). It is believed that only 30 car were produced with this interior, most of them converted to leather seats.

Offers invited.
