FIA Historic Formula One – F1 (1966-1985)
From Friday morning, the racing cars were on the track for a first test day, offering the perfect occasion to admire the two grids. The Historic Formula One is a newcomer to a Peter Auto meeting with 13 single-seaters on the starting grid. These former circuit stars had prepared themselves for new hours of glory in front of the Belgian public.
Joaquin Folch and his Brabham BT49C took the lead, closely followed by Jean-Michel Martin and his Fittipaldi F8 and held on to the end. The Spaniard stayed ahead despite the Belgian driver’s many attempts. Just behind, Christophe d'Ansembourg on Williams FW07 and Richard Eyre on Williams FW08 fought fiercely for the third place. The former won the joust. During the second race, the scenario and the podium stayed the same.
Results Course 1: 1. J. Folch – Brabham BT49C 2. JM. Martin – Fittipaldi F8 3. C. d'Ansembourg – Williams FW07
Course 2: 1. J. Folch – Brabham BT49C 2. JM. Martin – Fittipaldi F8 3. C. d'Ansembourg – Williams FW07
Historic Formula 2 – F2 (1967-1978): musical chairs
Little sister to F1, in the past, Formula 2 has seen many promising motor sports drivers. With nearly 20 entered cars, the Historic Formula 2 put on a technical and spectacular show on the Ardennes Toboggan.
The first F2 single-seater race was very lively from the start and Philip Harper and Matthew Watts battled for the first place during the whole race. Philip’s Ralt RT1 won the duel whereas the much coveted third place fought over by Peter Meyrick and Hans Peter went to the latter. The second round was much the same with the same leader but a more incisive Peter Meyrick came second this time in front of Hans Peter.
Results Course 1: 1. Philip Harper – Ralt RT1 2. Matthew Watts – March 772 3. Hans Peter – Ralt RT1
Course 2: 1. Philip Harper – Ralt RT1 2. Peter Meyrick – March 782 3. Hans Peter – Ralt RT1 |
