Sport et Collection "500 Ferrari contre le cancer"

Circuit du Val de Vienne, From May 31 to june 2nd, 2019

Sport et Collection celebrated its 25th birthday. This charity event organised every year on Circuit du Val de Vienne in centre of France near Poitiers has become one of the major automotive events in France and the most important one concerning Ferrari cars. About 500 Ferrari were partipating this year, the oldest being the 212 Export chassis 0088E of Martin Halusa and the newest a few 488 Pista.

Among the most significant Ferrari on the field were 212 Export, 250 GT Breadvan, 250 GT SWB, 340MM, 512M #1050, 308 GTB Michelotto 21071, 275 GTB/4, 288 GTO, LaFerrari Aperta, and some newer track only cars, like F430 Scuderia GT3, 360 GTC, F430 GT2 488 challenge and two 599 XX evo.

As usual 89 years old David Piper was there with three of his cars (250 LM, 330 P2 and Lola T70)

But Sport et collection is not a Ferrari only event and for this 25th anniversary the organisers put some serious efforts to gather some high quality cars from other manufacturers. Thanks to the ROFGO collection a batch of 7 Gulf cars were displayed in the paddock, from Ford GT40, Mirage GR8, Porsche 917K to Aston Martin DBR9 or Audi R8.

You could also admire an Alpine A442, a Ford P68, a Ford GT40 or ear the engine of a Matra 640.

Other remarkable cars were two Porsche 917. One is the only Porsche 917K/81 and the other a very rare Porsche 917 LH owned by Le Mans museum, and maybe the only one you could have a chance to see running on track.  One was also able to ear again this year the turbine engine of the Homwet TX of Xavier Micheron. What a special car to see and ear!

A special static display was also organised to celebrate the french manufacters that has won the 24 hours of Le Mans. Were notably displayed three wining chassis: the Matra 670B from 1974, Peugeot 905 EV1.2 from 1993 and Peugeot 908 HDI from 2009.

Yet again this year, spectators came in mass beating the record of attendance of the event and this gives a good hope for a record donation to the research center against cancer of Poitiers hospital.

French air army was also running various demonstrations all along the week-end from Rafale to aerobatics and "Patrouille de France" airshow.

This 25th anniversary is a good occasion to salute the work of all the volunteers of the organisation. Without them this particular and very nice event won't exist!

Next years dates are already known and 26th edition will be held from 4th to 7th june 2020.
