The Red Bull Track - Perfect for Alfa Romeo Classics

After Mugello, it is time to take on another stunning circuit, the Red Bull Ring. With the same flair they showed in Tuscany, the Alfa Romeos now return to the circuit that hosts the Austrian F1 Grand Prix. The Mugello and Red Bull circuits are both located in picturesque landscapes, while steep gradients underlie the fast corners of both racetracks.

The Austrian track in Spielberg, built in 1969, underwent a number of transformations, finally becoming the A1 Ring with its current layout in 1996 (4,318 m), the year it re-joined Formula 1. In 2011, after a few years of oblivion, the Austrian track was completely renovated by the current ownership, becoming one of the most spectacular and efficient circuits in the world. The credentials of the Red Bull Ring are a perfect match for the high demands of the Alfisti fans of the Alfa Revival Cup, eager to test themselves and their cars on circuits that require courage and technique.

Championship Update

The impressive field of Alfa Romeo cars at Mugello demonstrated how balance is key in this championship. In Tuscany, a few drops of rain during the early stages of the race partially disrupted the balance that had been established during the qualifying session, propelling Albert Weinzel (Team Formula GT) to the top of the podium. The winner of the race, behind the wheel of the Alfa GTAm, demonstrated great driving sensitivity on the slippery track, clearly outpacing all the competition.

In the debut race, the first to be caught off guard by Weinzel's skills were Luigi and Nicolò Mercatali (Alfa Romeo GTAm class G2 TC 2000 - Scuderia Clemente Biondetti), the father and son duo who failed to fully exploit their excellent pole position, succumbing the pace set by Weinzel.

The many crews to arrive in Austria with a strong desire to win will include Peter Bachofen and Roberto Restelli (Alfa Romeo GTAm – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team), always at the top and third under the chequered flag in the opening race. Mathias Körber (Alfa Romeo GTAm - OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team) is also arriving in Austria after a tough race at Mugello with his son Fabian.

Francesco Liberatore and Francesco Zadotti (Scuderia del Grifone) will undoubtedly be looking to redeem themselves on the ups and downs of Styria, after battling for the podium at Mugello behind the wheel of their Alfetta GT6 2500, before a mishap put an end to their stunning performance. The only lady on the track, Ute Schreiber (Alfa Romeo GTAm), brought a touch of class and finesse to the paddock. At Mugello, Ute, who races in Formula GT colours, shared her car with her husband, Stefan Schreiber. At the Red Bull Ring, Ute will be racing alone again in the largest and fiercest category, the GTAm.

Now we'll just have to wait and see which side prevails. The “Biscione” or the Bull? One thing is certain: we will have an exciting competition full of great motoring tradition.
