Worldwide Auctioneers' 16th annual Texas auction moves to an exciting new venue in Arlington in 2017, with a stunning selection of sportscars among the highlights. The Texas Classic Auction is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday April 22 at the Arlington Convention Center in the Dallas metroplex, close to the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park, home of the Texas Rangers. The sale runs in conjunction with the all no-reserve Monical Collection Auction on Friday April 21 and the 6th annual Concours d'Elegance of Texas on Sunday April 23.

Visitors to Worldwide's annual Texas auction have become accustomed to some world-class consignments over the years and this year's line-up will not disappoint. Slated to go under the hammer is a multiple NHRA Champion winning 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra "Dragonsnake", the most successful drag racing Cobra. "Authentically restored to period-correct specifications and livery, this is one of only three Cobras independently prepared to "Dragonsnake" specifications", said John Kruse, Principal & Auctioneer. Another highlight of the sale is an exceptionally well documented  1969 Chevrolet Corvette L-88 Roadster, one of only 116 Corvettes built in 1969, a Bloomington Gold® Survivor, Special Collection and Hall of Fame Recipient. Rare European sportscars include a numbers-matching 1966 Ferrari 275 GTS with coachwork by Pininfarina, one of just 200 examples originally produced, complete with Marcel Massini Report and an impeccably documented 1972 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS, again numbers-matching, as per Maserati S.p.A. Certificate of Origin. Also set to cross the block is a multiple award winning 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, offered from single ownership for the past 42 years, and from the final year of Speedster production, an impeccably restored 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

The weekend will kick off on the evening of Friday, April 21, with the all no-reserve Monical Collection Auction, a hand-picked selection of cars expertly assembled over the years by Texas collector Bobby Monical, with something for everyone in the line-up of 44 cars, from antique to pre-war automobiles, through fifties convertibles, trucks and quintessential American sports cars. "We're looking forward to welcoming old friends and new to this, our sixteenth event in Texas, with two great auctions and an outstanding offering of cars, all showcased in this exciting and easily accessible new venue ", said Rod Egan, Principal & Chief Auctioneer. "We hope everyone will make it a weekend and enjoy another truly exceptional display of fine motorcars on Sunday, presented by our friends at the Concours d'Elegance of Texas, scheduled for Sunday, April 23,  which also relocates from the Houston area to Arlington this year".
