One of the most successful road racing cars of the 1950s was the D-Type Jaguar. The E-Type was the metamorphosis of this racing legend into a sports car that the enthusiast could drive on the street. From its launch in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was touted as one of the most beautiful and capable sports cars ever made.

Hailed for its 150mph top speed and under 7 second 0-60mph times, the two-seater E-Type in Coupe form featured fastback styling and a rear-opening tailgate that provided easy access to the added storage space. Appreciated for more than its practicality, many Jaguar enthusiasts prefer the overall styling of the coupe to the open roadster.

This spectacular looking, one owner Jaguar E-Type Coupe was recently restored to a show-driver level by the experts at Classic Showcase. Re-sprayed, color sanded and buffed to bring out the full beauty of its original Opalescent Blue color; this handsome Coupe is further highlighted with new chrome and freshly painted wire wheels.

The restoration of this matching numbers, original 88,000 mile E-Type was extensive and included a complete rebuild of its powerful, 4.2-liter six-cylinder engine, triple S.U. carburetors and transmission. Additionally, the Jaguar ’ s clutch, rear end, the complete exhaust system, brakes, suspension, as well as all the rubber and moldings were replaced with new. Inside, the twin bucket seats were rebuilt and covered in dramatic, contrasting new dark blue hides. As well, new dark blue panels, trim and deep pile wool carpets were fitted. A new headliner was also installed.

Those who prefer their sports cars with plenty of sport, but not plenty of wind, can find no better solution than an early Jaguar E-Type Coupe. Between 1964 and 1968, only 7,770 Series One, FHC 4.2-liter Jaguar E-Types were built, which makes this Coupe rare as well as fast.

This original California black plate Jaguar E-Type, with its Heritage Certificate of Authenticity and restoration CD, will satisfy those enthusiasts looking for Coupe comfort, as well as sports car performance.
