When the XK120 was introduced to the general public in 1948 at the Earl ’ s Court Motor Show it caused a sensation that rippled through the motor industry. All of the spectators – visitors, writers, and disheartened competition alike – marveled at this new Jaguar as it stole the show. The XK120 was quite different from what Jaguar was known for, as their main production had traditionally fallen into the realm of sporting sedans. The introduction of the elegant XK120 instantly redefined Jaguar as a builder of world class sports cars.

The XK120 ’ s combination of elegant lines and stunning performance made it the object of desire for many motoring enthusiasts. In fact, Jaguar ’ s new sports car was the fastest production car in the world when it was introduced. This, coupled with its moderate selling price, ensured that it would remain in motoring folklore for a long time to come.

The addition of the fixed head (hardtop) coupe came into production in 1951, and with its sharply-sloped fender line, the coupe looked particularly streamlined and handsome, especially when wearing the optional rounded rear fender spats.

The Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe pictured here finished in the traditional British Racing Green was treated to a complete ground up restoration. The engine was fully rebuilt by Predator Performance, where it was fitted with a Terry ’ s Jaguar cylinder head and a stainless steel exhaust system. Additional mechanical work included rebuilding the front suspension and the installation of new brakes. The interior features beautifully refinished original wood trim, as well as a new headliner, carpets, and interior panels. The leather seat covers were replaced in 1995 and are in excellent condition, having seen little use. The vendor purchased the Jaguar in 1965 and has kept it in a temperature-controlled garage for his 42 years of ownership. Since completing its restoration, the XK 120 has consistently scored 99+ points at several of the Jaguar Club of North America ’ s judged events.

The timeless design of the XK120 will always make it one of the most beautiful automobiles around. As such, the sale of this 1954 Jaguar XK120 roadster offers a perfect opportunity for the collector to acquire one of company ’ s finest efforts.
