Conceived during WWII, the John Deere Model H two-cylinder tractor was manufactured to meet the demands of small-acreage farmers with a very tight budget. The first step was to create a simplified design that could be sold at a low price. The second step was to develop an engine that could run reliably on low-cost distillate fuels, thus keeping the cost of operation to a minimum. The Model H succeeded at both, with a low compression, two-cylinder, horizontally mounted engine with simple sheet metal bodywork. The tractor was unique amongst general-purpose machines because output power was transmitted by the camshaft instead of the crankshaft and the usual bull gears at each axle were no longer required.

The 1945 Model H Tractor presented here underwent a full restoration by a renowned John Deere restorer from Petoskey, Michigan. The tractor is finished in classic John Deere Green and yellow with all the proper logos and insignias present. In show quality condition, this handsome tractor is an excellent example ready to shine in a new collection.
