We are pleased to offer 1972 USA Model Dino 246 GTS s/n 04884. Only three well documented owners from new. Stripped and repainted in 1987 with excellent older Ferrari red lacquer with excellent tan leather Daytona seats with black inserts. A.C., P.W. No accidents, no stories. Includes a full set of tools, the jack kit and the owner’s manuals. A well sorted Dino that shows pride of ownership. Much well documented recent work. Won the Khaki’s Award at Concorso Italiano in August 2006. Scored Platinum at Concorso Arizona in April 2007.

S/n 04884. 246 GTS. USA car. A/C. P.W. Red/tan. Daytona seats.

 

1975, with Campbell, Fox Chapel, PA.

1987, to European Auto Restoration for body, paint and interior.

1988, January, sold at the Barrett–Jackson auction to Ron Lauer, a custom home builder in Minnesota, paid $80,000, then a world record price!

Kept at Ron Lauer’s various houses in Los Angeles, Florida and Minnesota. Driven about 50 miles once every few months in summer, stored in winter. Very little use.

2005, 27 May, photographed and test driven by M. Sheehan. Very nice car. Serviced as needed while with its long term owner, Ron Lauer. Started well, runs well, went up through the gears with good syncros. Very good older bodywork paint and leather. Engine, engine bay and spare tire well need detailing from sitting for many years. Needs front calipers rebuilt, needs soft brake lines, muffler is so–so, compression and leak down are within acceptable range. Has tools and jack kit, no books.

2005, 10 June, sold to current owner.

2005, 23 June, rebuild front calipers, replace front brake hoses, bleed brake system: $346.00.

2005, 12 Aug., rebuild radiator, replace thermostat, numerous hoses. Coolant changed annually. Parts: $499.21.

2005, 18 Aug., new belts, water temp sender and voltage regulator from GT Car Parts: $188.00.

2005, 27 Oct., repair electrical, remove Dinoplex, installed MSD work done by Auto Exotics: $300.00.

2006, June, install new Pirelli P 400 tires. $400.00.

2006, 02 June, strip all four wheels by Redi-Strip: $190.

2006, 08 June, have clear bra installed by Ultra–Shield, $485.10.

2006, 03 Aug., misc, exhaust system parts from GT Car Parts: $155.27.

2006, August, won Khaki’s award at Concorso Italiano.

2006, 11 Sept., install rebuilt steering rack from GT Car Parts: $475.00.

2006, 12 Oct., rebuilt carburetors, installed new phenolic blocks and manifold seals, removed bell housing and installed new input shaft and relay shaft bearings, work done by Exotic Auto, 811 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ: $833.73.
