The Porsche we have the pleasure of offering here features a custom made RSR body similar to the Van Lennep Le Mans race car successfully campaigned in the period. Utilizing the original 911 chassis, molded coachwork adorns what was a 70,000-mile original example that retains its matching numbers original 2.2-liter engine, five- speed gearbox and rear end. We understand that most of those miles were also put on prior to the current owner acquired the Porsche in the early 1980s; since then it has been driven only sparingly and shown on limited occasions. Recent work in preparing the Porsche for the auction included new stainless steel brake lines, new rear shocks, new plugs, new spark plug wires, air and fuel filters. The vendor reports that the Porsche displays no cracks in the bodywork whatsoever, and that it has a beautiful exterior finish as shown in the dramatic Porsche “ Signal Red ” . The interior is related to be in equally presentable condition with the carpet in excellent condition and matching the original RSR interior panels very nicely. An additional feature includes the rare Millennium racing steering wheel similar to Peter Greg ’ s wheel from when he raced for Brumos Porsche. While not pictured on the car presently, the owner relates that a set of Fuchs Alloy wheels will accompany the car in its sale. The enthusiast owner, a PCA member for over 35 years, has shown it at many classic Porsche Concours events and Historic Rallye events; however, the RSR Conversion has never been raced on the track. Despite this, it is complete with the very rare Recaro seats and “ Sabelt ” harness and FIA Approved roll bar. While it could participate in historic racing, it has never been track raced, having been made as a show car for historic display purposes only. Truly, a “ must have ” car for the collector, vintage racer or Porsche enthusiast.
