Known History

West Coast Classics are proud to present a rare example of this 1972 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible 350 V8, the Skylark Custom being a plusher Skylark distinguished on the exterior by a grid-textured bright grille, wider bright rocker panels with rear stone guard extensions and wheelhouse moldings. It also had a plusher Custom interior and this is one of those rare (1 of only 3,608 built) models! Finished in it's original factory 'Burnished Copper Poly' color paint (Code 63A) and 'Saddle' color (Code 136) vinyl interior and sold complete with it's original owner's manual (purchased on 1/28/1972 from 'Frank Hawkins Buick' of Seattle, Washington)!

The car boasts a very nice original factory color repaint with a very clean and original Saddle vinyl interior with the floor boards, trunk and all the typically rust-prone areas completely solid and rust free and with no signs of any major accidents of any kind. The car looks extremely impressive with it's recent repaint and the interior is also in very good and mostly original condition throughout. The dashboard and the seats and carpets are all in fine condition although please note that the original steering wheel does have some cracks in it and the drivers seat is showing some wear in one small area (see photos below). All the chrome-work is in very good condition and the car has it's original radio and it's original spare wheel and jack in the trunk. After market air conditioning was added in 1973 and it is positioned neatly under the dash. Please note that the car had a brand new white power soft top already fitted when we only very recently purchased it and unfortunately when we lowered the top for the pictures, the soft top frame pinched the new canvas in two stress areas resulting in two small tears on each side of the roof (see photos below). The top can now be lowered and raised without any further damage to the top but the two small tears on each side obviously remain. We can only imagine that the top was not fitted correctly and the canvas is slightly too tight for the frame in those two areas and come through when lowered.

The 350 V8 engine is extremely strong and powerful with a stated 63,850 actual miles on the Arizona title as of 4/19/2005 with the odometer now reading some 64,800 miles. This particular car drives extremely well - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The three speed turbo 350 automatic transmission shifts smoothly through the gears, there are no noticeable oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool. The car has its original 15" Buick Rally wheels mounted with striking Dunlop GT Qualifier tires.

This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving example of a rust and accident free 1972 Buick Skylark 2 door Custom Convertible 350 V8 in very fine condition throughout! Although obviously not a concourse example, this remains a very rare and desirable daily driving 1970's drop top Buick, a sure-fire investment that's sure to appreciate over the years for any classic American car collector or simply any Buick enthusiast!
