Advertisements in 1970 touted the F100 as the truck that rode like a car. This 1970 F100 flareside seems to have inherited a lot of Mustang DNA, becoming a sporty truck that's entertaining to drive as well as practical. Nicely built with a rumbling V8 and a beautifully finished interior, it's a pleasure to drive and show. This summer, do your hauling in style and comfort. Starting with a solid, original truck, the body was refinished in what looks like classic Wimbledon White. With chiseled good looks and a sporty demeanor from the short chassis and flareside bed, this was a sport truck before such things existed. Paint and bodywork were done to an above average standard, and the truck fits together very nicely. This truck shows no issues in the usual trouble spots like the rocker panels and rear bed sides, and the chassis confirms that this has never been a rusty vehicle. The paint is glossy and shows well, and if you like to play in the dirt, white is actually pretty good at hiding it. The bed is beautifully finished using oak and polished stainless for a traditional look that is still tough enough to haul lumber home from Home Depot. Up front, the busy 1970 grille has been replaced by a more businesslike 1967 piece that has been nicely polished and straightened. Thanks to a pair of tan leather buckets from a Lincoln Continental, the interior almost looks OEM, although no truck in 1970 was ever this comfortable. The original dash was retained, although the instrument panel has been replaced with a custom piece featuring Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges, including a tach, speedo, fuel level, oil pressure, temperature, and an ammeter. A Grant GT steering wheel hangs on the original column, but its thick rim and leather wrap are much more appropriate to this rejuvenated hauler. A custom center console was fabricated and uses an armrest that was undoubtedly borrowed from the same Lincoln as the seats. That console is also home to a B&M shifter, as well as a pair of speakers for the Pioneer AM/FM/CD player in the dash. Unlike the clumsy, long-throw shifters usually found in trucks, this one falls easily to hand and slips through the gears with the precision of a bolt-action rifle. Fresh carpets on the floor look great and match the rest of the upholstery. Originally powered by an acceleration-challenged 300 cubic inch inline-six, this F100 now enjoys the performance of a built 302 cubic inch V8. With a slightly aggressive cam, a Holley carb and an Edelbrock intake, it has a traditional hot-rod sound and accelerates the relatively lightweight truck with real authority. The engine has been dressed in a coat of Ford Blue paint, along with a set of cast aluminum Ford Motorsport valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. A set of long-tube headers add a little horsepower, and sound awesome exhaling through a pair of Flowmaster mufflers with turndowns ahead of the rear axle. The transmission is a rebuilt Toploader 4-speed manual that makes this truck a real party to drive while contributing to the vintage feel. Front disc brakes and power steering make it easy to drive, while the polished aluminum wheels wear fat 255/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This F100 is a great example of how a few simple modifications can completely transform a vehicle. No radical body surgery was necessary, just a clean, honest paint job with nice detailing, and the inviting leather-lined interior delivers on the promise of luxury and comfort. It's rare to find a truck like this that hasn't been worked to death, and this one needs absolutely nothing to be driven and enjoyed this summer. No matter what you're hauling, this truck is up for it. Call now! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information, please call (678) 279-1609 or toll free (877) 367-1835.
