Super clean and ready for summer, this 1987 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe pickup is a fun cruiser that's also extremely practical. With the most popular short bed and regular cab configuration, it's sporty, but still capable of hauling the big loads when you need it. If ever there was a time to make your hobby vehicle do double duty, it's today, and this bright blue pickup is as at home at the cruise night as it is at the garden center. Trucks are a booming segment of the hobby, and bring a very reasonable price of admission. However, the flip side is that finding a good, clean truck that hasn't been worked to within an inch of its life can be challenging. It appears that this truck has never been a work vehicle, and the condition of the largely original paint bears this out. With factory-quality gaps and panel alignment throughout, it has probably never had a major accident or any substantial bodywork, and the paint quality suggests that it has been stored indoors and well maintained for most of its life. Chrome and trim is good, including front and rear bumpers as well as the Custom Deluxe trim, which features bright body side moldings. This one also offers diamond plate bed protectors and oversized mirrors, which you'll appreciate if you do any trailer towing. The interior has seen a recent freshening that includes new door panels, dash pad, and seat cover. The seat remains firm and comfortable, and the commanding view from the cockpit is one that many folks appreciate only after they've experience a full-sized truck. The gauges are fully functional, and you'll note that this truck is equipped with factory A/C as well as an upgraded Clarion AM/FM/CD system. Everything works as it should, and this truck's easy life is best experienced from behind the wheel, where it feels solid and tight. Power comes from Chevy's evergreen 305 cubic inch V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and driving a 4-speed automatic transmission. The engine bay is clean and serviceable, showing signs of correct maintenance throughout its life. The absence of hot-rod and go-fast parts is further proof that this truck was never abused or worked hard. Even items like the air cleaner intake duct, which always takes a beating, are in good condition. The transmission is the original 4-speed automatic with overdrive, which makes this truck a very nice highway cruiser that gets surprisingly good gas mileage for a full-sized pickup. Underneath, the chassis is solid and virtually rust-free, with good floors and original equipment throughout. The lone upgrade is the exhaust system, which features a new catalytic converter and a Flowmaster dual-outlet muffler that sounds great and probably makes a few extra horsepower. Wheels are timeless Chevy Rallys wearing 255/70/15 Uniroyal radials. Trucks like this represent a very reasonably priced way to get into the hobby, and this one is great as-is, or could be the foundation of a spectacular project. With no rust, straight body panels, a clean interior, and factory options like A/C, it's a nice package with no needs that can be used immediately. Parts are plentiful and the aftermarket caters to these trucks like almost no other, making it easy to customize and upgrade to taste. There just can't be many 25-year-old trucks around that still look this good. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
