Few things look better than a triple-black Corvette convertible. The C5 Corvette was a slam-dunk success, and in 2001 the Corvette received a host of upgrades, not the least of which was an upgraded LS1 with 350 horsepower and a whopping 375 pounds of torque on tap. Showing 35,761 original miles, this gorgeous black one owner roadster is beautifully preserved and available for a fraction of the price of a new Corvette. With black being as finicky as it is, there's nowhere for substandard maintenance to hide. This Corvette's shiny flanks have clearly been lovingly preserved. This Corvette looks less than half its age, and it has obviously been owned by a dedicated Corvette fan who routinely washed and waxed it. The owner even purchased a GM accessories cover that is included with the purchase of the car. This Corvette is simply spectacular. The C5's timeless shape is instantly recognizable as a Corvette, and looks especially good covered with a coat of deep black paint. Inside, the black leather interior is equally nice. The C5's interior was a major step forward and offers excellent ergonomics. The upgraded sport bucket seats are well preserved and provide a comfortable driving position that's good for cross-country runs. This car also features the optional heads-up display, which projects things like speed, engine RPM, the turn signals, and other information onto the windshield-the effect is that it appears to be hovering somewhere out over the hood, which is incredibly useful when driving fast. Corvettes typically came loaded with just about everything, including power windows, power locks with keyless entry, dual zone climate control, and one of the best traction/stability control systems in the world. With it activated, it's awfully hard to get in over your head, even with 350 horsepower on tap. The engine is the fabulously durable and reliable LS1, perhaps the best-engineered small block V8 GM ever designed. Over the years, these engines have proven time and time again that they're virtually indestructible and will stand up to years of abuse with only routine maintenance. However, it's pretty obvious that this one has never been abused and maintenance has been by the book since day one. It fires up with the characteristic LS1 bark and a smooth hum from the stock exhaust, which received shiny tips in 2001. The engine bay is an ocean of shiny black plastic, which is easy to maintain and never rusts or corrodes. And unlike so many Corvettes, the C5 in particular, it is not covered with cheesy aftermarket bits and pieces that always look better in a catalog than they do in an engine bay. Fans of manual transmissions will also be pleased to see that this Corvette carries the optional 6-speed manual, which drives a 3.42-geared rear axle with limited slip. The C5's suspension is highly capable, yet the stiff structure allows the use of softer springs, so the ride is far less punishing than the C4's was. 13-inch discs with 2-piston calipers provide legendary stopping power, and ABS is, of course, standard equipment. Wheels are positively gorgeous polished forged alloys wearing 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear Goodyear run-flat tires. If you haven't driven a C5 Corvette, you're really missing out. Forget the stories of Corvettes being harsh-riding brutes, the C5 is exceptionally well polished, and can easily be driven every day without any compromises. It's clear that this roadster was never a daily driver, but that doesn't mean that the owner didn't enjoy every second behind the wheel. The rumbling V8 exhaust note, the slick-shifting 6-speed, and the open air thrill of a convertible just doesn't get any better than this. Even ten years later, there aren't many cars that can run with a C5 'Vette, and with a huge aftermarket and strong club support, these cars are welcome at some very popular events. A great car to own, and a great way to join some of the best enthusiasts in the world. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
