The Ferrari Dino was named for Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredino, who died in 1956 at the age of 24 as a result of muscular dystrophy. The Dino was, fittingly, a 'baby' Ferrari that was of smaller dimension and was much more nimble than any other street Ferrari previously offered. Its mid-placed engine was a Ferrari first for a street car and the quad cam V6 was a soulful engine that capitalized on Ferrari's racing experience building racing V6's. Styling was, of course, by Pininfarina and the Dino has long been a favorite among Ferrari enthusiasts due to its beautiful lines and proportions, lovely engine and balanced chassis.

This particular 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS with serial number 7860 is an extremely attractive late production example that is in excellent cosmetic condition and has been the recipient of mechanical updating. It is a US spec car with air conditioning, power windows, Daytona seats and has been in California for many years. It has several years of receipts and records documenting the regular attention the car has received in keeping in in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. This Dino was recently serviced by Norbert Hofer's Grand Touring Classics in Long Beach at a cost of $5658. They changed the necessary fluids, hoses, and added new carburetor floats. In addition they removed the engine and trans axle for resealing and adjusted the shifter mechanism. The oil cooler was also rebuilt and the hose replaced.

This Dino Ferrari has been cosmetically restored and is in excellent condition. The paintwork has been renewed to high standard and shows just handful of minor blemishes. The body is straight, rust free and solid. The chrome and other brightwork is excellent as is the rubber trim. The car has been fitted with new Hella H4 headlamps and the others, including the rear European lamps are in proper working order. The glass is good throughout with only minor pitting and wiper marks on the windscreen. The Dino rides on correct Michelin XWX tires and the wheels have been restored.

The interior of the car is stunning. It has been comprehensively restored using the correct materials including the mouse fur dashboard. The door panels and seats have been reupholstered to the highest standard using the highest quality leather. The carpets were also renewed as were the windscreen posts and center console. The steering wheel has been beautifully restored as well.

The trunk is original and well preserved with only minor deterioration to the edges of the carpeting. The correct and jack bag are included as is the spare tire which is stored in the correct front compartment. The engine compartment is in factory new condition and is properly detailed. The correct decals and hardware are in place and due to the recent service the hoses are in as-new condition. The underside is solid and rust free.

Mechanically this Ferrari Dino make a strong impression impression. The brakes and steering are in good order and the gearbox is properly adjusted but does display the typical synchromesh wear.

The is an extremely attractive late production, US model Ferrari 246 GTS Dino that is equipped with air conditioning and is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire an well sorted example of a very desirable Ferrari.
