Dating from 1977, this particular Stag has had just one Welsh enthusiast owner for the last 20 years and incredibly it has averaged a mere 2000 miles (that’s right two thousand) per year since being supplied new 34 years ago. About 10 years ago it was treated to a total nut-and-bolt rebuild and still remains in fabulous condition today. The restoration included an engine and gearbox rebuild, stunning bare-metal repaint in Mimosa Yellow and new hood in duck cloth.

The car comes with a large file of bills and photographs to document the work carried out. Spec includes 3-litre V8, Electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes, Rostyle wheels. four-lamp grille and sculpted front and rear ends, Soft top. Fully automatic gearbox. Virtually all the old MOTs are present with current one issued to Jan 2012 and 6 months road tax.

The model’s popularity is due to its performance, comparative rarity and its Michelotti styling giving it Fantastic road presence. There is a sizeable UK Owner’s Club whose members have years of experience and knowledge about owning and using Stags. Historical Info

Sold between 1970 and 1978, the Michelotti-styled Triumph Stag was designed to be a gentleman's sports tourer to compete head-on with rivals like the Mercedes SL, but at half the price. A full four-seater, it was powered by an all-new Triumph-designed 2,997cc V8 engine that produced 145bhp, sufficient to propel the car to a heady 115mph with a wonderfully woofly exhaust note. The Stag's exclusive image was enhanced further by it's role in the James Bond film, Diamonds are Forever.

Most cars were fitted with a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic transmission. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés, but for structural rigidity – and to meet new American rollover standards at the time – the Stag required a B-pillar "roll bar" hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar, which became a Stag trademark.

Typical Owner’s Comments:-

“Just bought my second stag having been stag-less for nearly twenty years! Oh heaven......the look, the sound and the smiles both from me and the onlookers as I drive it around town and countryside........in heaven again”.

“I have had my stag for over 17years and would never sell, what else could ever take its place“.
