Here's an unusual find-a 1967 Camaro RS that's still an RS! So many of these cars are "upgraded" to SS specifications during restorations that it's almost impossible to keep track of them, so when an honest, nicely finished Rally Sport shows up wearing correct badges and with no stories, we sit up and take notice. Presented in a great color combination with a matching interior, this handsome cruiser is just the thing for those Saturday night cruises and Sunday afternoons at the strip. Now bright silver with black stripes and a black vinyl top, it's a classic color combination that won't go out of style. Fortunately, it has been applied over some straight bodywork, so rework is not in this car's immediate future. Good gaps and a new cowl-induction hood make it look polished and well-assembled, and the finish has most definitely been color sanded and buffed to create an outstanding finish. The blacked-out RS grille includes hidden headlamps that are fully functional, and additions like the chin and deck lid spoilers give it a period-correct look that's as aggressive as the rumbling small block under the hood. All the stainless trim has been restored as well, including the wheel well trim and window surrounds, and it wears correct 'rs' badges on the front fenders and grille. The interior uses black code-Z Strato buckets with silver stripes, an OEM combination that matches the exterior perfectly. Restored several years ago, it's holding up nicely thanks to quality materials and superior workmanship, as well as careful use since it was finished. Always the number-one wear point the driver's seat shows some use, but no splits or tears, and the black vinyl remains supple and uncracked. Black carpets remain in good condition front and rear, thanks to a set of fitted floor mats that have been in place since the restoration was complete. The gauges and console appear to be in original condition. There's a correct Rally Sport steering wheel, and an easy-to-grab shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic. The only significant alteration from a stock Camaro is a modern AM/FM/cassette head unit in the original location using what appear to be the original Camaro radio knobs. I'll give the builder an "A" for effort in that regard. Power comes from a built 350 cubic inch small block, and thanks to a big camshaft, it has that lopey, racecar idle that's intimidating as hell. The engine bay is clean, with the engine wearing a correct coat of Chevy Orange paint and a set of satin black valve covers, but it's clear that this one was built to drive, not live on a trailer. Signs of careful maintenance like fresh hoses and clamps, mean that someone cherished this car and made sure that it was regularly exercised to keep it in top mechanical condition. Power steering makes it easy to drive, and a recent alternator keeps the headlights bright. Underneath it's solid and presentable, with what appear to be replacement floor pans that were properly installed. Long tube headers dump into a true dual exhaust system using Flowmaster mufflers that accentuate the big cam's characteristics at idle. And perhaps the car's most distinguishing characteristic, those massive 18-inch Torque Thrust-style wheels, wear 275/40/18 performance radials that completely stuff the wheel wells. Admit it, this is the cruiser you've always dreamed of owning. Imagine pulling into your favorite car-guy hotspot behind the wheel of this rumbling silver Camaro-you can't deny that it has a ton of eyeball appeal. The workmanship is uniformly good throughout the car, and it has no issues or areas that need attention. This is, instead, one of those cars that you can simply jump in at a moment's notice and hit the road, which is exactly the kind of freedom cars like this were designed to provide. Grab your best friend or your best lady, fire up that cackling small block, and see where the adventure leads. That's the Camaro way. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
