Known History

At Porsche, the Turbo legend was born in 1974 with the 911 Turbo, type 930. With ?body-builder?s? wings and prominent rear spoiler, the muscular body covered an equally brawny engine : the traditional flat six cylinder air-cooled 3-litre engine was given a KKK turbo-compressor which gave the car 260bhp. This ferocious car made a lasting impression as the most virile of road-going Porsches. Keen to build on this image, the Stuttgart company launched a second generation of the 911 Turbo in 1990, the 964. It was built in two engine sizes, 3.3-litre and 3.6-litre, producing up to 360bhp, power that required careful handling. With the third generation Turbo, the 993, Porsche fitted a second turbocharger, taking the power to over 400bhp and the top speed to more than 290 km/h. Inspiration for the 993 came from the ultra-quick 959 supercar (which was in turn derived from the Group B version), however the addition of four wheel drive and driving aids made it more controllable. Pinnacle of the Porsche Turbo series, the 993 was also the last fitted with an air-cooled engine, making it a landmark car in the marque?s history.

The car offered was delivered new in France and is presented in metallic blue with all-leather blue interior. Bought by the current owner at an Artcurial auction in 2007 when the car had covered 69,000km, with fully stamped service book, the odometer now reads 83,100km. In 2008 the car underwent a ?10,000 overhaul at Boudinaud Racing and has covered less than 10,000km since. With a sunroof and electric seats, the car comes with service book, original toolkit, compressor and jack. It was described in a report by specialist Alexis Delicourt dated 25/01/2011 as ź without any apparent signs of corrosion or accident ╗. The front tyres show just 10% wear to the front and 20% to the rear. This car has been very carefully used and maintained, and is ready to demonstrate its awesome potential.
