Known History

?The fastest four-seater in the world?, was how the first Bentley Continental R was introduced in 1954.It was also the most expensive car on the market, costing as much as four Jaguar XK120s. The king of comfort, this elegant, high-class profiled vehicle could reach 190 km/h (120 mph). Later on it was available with several different bodies, convertible or ?Flying Spur? saloon, always with a special finish or exclusive feature that made it the ultimate in luxury cars. Although the name ?Continental? disappeared in 1965, Bentley reintroduced it in 1984 to christen its elite model the Continental Convertible, which echoed the Rolls Royce Corniche. This vehicle is equipped with a super-adaptable V8 engine and leather seating of the highest quality, enhanced by varnished wooden fittings.

This magnificent car was delivered new in the USA. Its American owner subsequently moved to France and took his car there with him. A few years later he returned without leaving a forwarding address, and the car was left behind. Through a process started by the owner of the house that the first owner rented, the car was sold to the current owner in 2008. This owner entrusted it to Jacque Savoye of Paris, the then importer and dealer of this make, for restoration. Nothing was left to chance: the bodywork, the electrics and the engine were completely overhauled and the car completely repainted according to standard guidelines. The complete set of bills will be passed on to the future purchaser. Since the restoration, the Parisian owner has been using the magnificent Continental regularly, both to visit his motor-yacht on the C˘te d'Azur and to spend delightful weekends away. It is regularly and carefully maintained by the Americo specialist garage. Its Havana leather interior is still magnificent and the ride is most comfortable, especially when the electric roof is rolled down to allow the sun to add a further degree of comfort to this truly great ride.
