Sometimes cars are so nice, it's hard to know where to being describing them. This 1967 Chevelle features a very fresh, high-quality restoration that has taken the car to better-than-new condition in almost every measurable way. Detailing is exceptionally nice, and the big block under the hood delivers potent performance. Whatever you choose to do with this one-drive it or show it-you can be confident that it is one of the best examples of its kind. According to the cowl tag, this is a real SS396 Sport Coupe, although that same cowl tag also gives away the fact that this one was originally Butternut Yellow. No matter, because the brilliant Bolero Red now on the car will make you forget all about codes and ancient history. The bodywork is simply beautiful, with nary a ripple or wave to be found, even on those big quarter panels which are notoriously difficult to get this straight. Note the subtle crease that runs from nose to tail-if the body isn't straight, that's where it will show up first, and on this car, it's nearly perfect. The paint is two-stage urethane, and the shine is so bright you'll need sunglasses to look at this one out in the sunlight. Looking at the reflections in our photo studio, you can see that someone spent a lot of time getting this car right, and that same level of detail is found throughout. You'll also note correct badges used on the quarters, a proper blacked-out SS tail panel, and a super clean SS396 grille up front. They didn't overlook anything on this one. The interior is spot-on correct, sporting a set of code 763 black vinyl buckets and a code G center console. As beautifully finished as the bodywork, the interior is entirely new, from the headliner to the carpets. The seats have handsome seat covers with bright trim and that cool pushbutton release for the seatbacks, while the door panels show crisp detailing that was a hallmark of GM in the '60s. The center console sports a handsome clock angled towards the driver, as well as a cue ball-tipped Hurst shifter that bangs through the gears like a bolt-action rifle. Gauges are simple and the controls are basic, but the important things about cars like this weren't the frills, but the hardware underneath, and this one delivers. The engine is a correct but not numbers-matching 396 cubic inch big block Chevy, dressed for battle in correct Chevy Orange paint. Against that satin black engine bay, the motor simply pops, thanks to a set of chrome big block valve covers and a correct open-element air cleaner with Turbo Jet decals on top. Yellow plug wires and a chrome water neck are the only real deviations from stock, but they look racy and only enhance the presentation under the hood. A new dual master cylinder has been installed, feeding new lines and all-new brakes, while the 4-speed transmission has been fully rebuilt and shifts beautifully. Long-tube headers feed a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers dumping out right behind the rear wheels. Disc brakes up front provide reliable stopping power, and the entire fuel system, from the tank to the carburetor, has been replaced with new components. Timeless 17-inch Torque-Thrust wheels wear 245/45/17 front and 255/50/17 rear Riken radials that really stuff the wheel wells without looking undersized. Restored cars don't get much nicer than this, and this one is so fresh, you can almost smell the paint. With less than 200 miles since it was completed, it has not even been broken-in yet. Quite honestly, it's rare for a car like this to receive a frame-off restoration to this standard, and we're amazed by how well-done it truly is. Fast, fun, and handsome, this red SS will make a fabulous summer cruiser that will knock the crowds dead at the next local cruise-in, and you can drive it with confidence knowing that someone already sweated all the details. This is an extremely nice car with no needs. Call today!
