The BMW Z4 was much more than just a face-lifted Z3, and debuted in 2003 to rave reviews about its improved handling dynamics, spacious cabin, and stiffer chassis. The styling is often a love-it-or-hate-it proposition, but in the years since its introduction, it has become less radical, and has aged extremely well. With just 23,547 original miles, this extremely well-kept Z4 2.5i has travelled less than 3000 miles a year and has never been subject to the rigors of the daily grind. Draped in Merlot Red Metallic paint, this handsome roadster displays classic long hood/short deck proportions and crisp detailing that is a hallmark of the Chris Bangle era at BMW. This car has never been wrecked nor has it required any major surgery, and the precision fit of the doors, hood, and trunk are all as the factory intended. The body appears to be stretched taut over a sleek skeleton, and the 17-inch alloy wheels fill the wheel wells without any wasted space. Paint quality is what you would expect from a high-end automaker, and has clearly enjoyed years of careful maintenance and polishing, and it has never seen salt or winter weather. The distinctive nose with its twin-kidney BMW grille shows few signs of use, and even the areas behind the wheels are remarkably clean. Someone really loved this car. Tan is the ideal complement to the deep Merlot Red paint, a classic combination that will never go out of style. The speedometer and the tachometer are in hooded binnacles ahead of the driver, the air-conditioning and radio controls are intuitive, and the seat controls remain simple. The Z4 steering wheel is attractive, with just the right rim thickness, and it is adjustable in both rake and reach. Stowage space is adequate, and there are two decent-size cup holders. BMW calls the optional wood trim "sycamore," and it's hard to say whether it's real, because it looks pretty good and rather retro spanning the entire width of the dashboard as it does. This one is loaded with equipment, including heated power memory seats, auto dimming mirrors, xenon self leveling headlamps, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system that works best if the included wind blocker is in place between the seats. A matching tan top seals up remarkably well and takes mere seconds to stow with a clever design that doesn't require a boot to look finished. Power comes from BMW's silky smooth and reliable 2.5-liter all-aluminum DOHC 24-valve, in-line six-cylinder engine. There is decent thrust at just about any speed, with a noticeable increase in urgency at around 3500 RPM. All the way through the power band, the engine revs eagerly and makes a great noise, with a mellow bass burble at idle and a smooth howl at high speeds. The Z4 has a standard five-speed manual transmission, which snaps through shifts easily and with a precise feeling that only BMW seems to know how to create. The all-independent suspension seems to have mastered the right blend of performance and comfort, and the rock-solid structure makes this roadster feel like it will last forever. Powerful four-wheel discs with standard ABS are probably more powerful than this car needs unless you intend to use it on the track, and its moves under almost any circumstances are confidence-inspiring. The 17 inch optional wheels show no curb rash or damage, and the tires are high-performance Bridgestone Potenzas with plenty of life left in them. With just two owners from new, this is an exceptionally clean Z4 roadster. With its excellent combination of comfort and performance, it's a car that you could happily drive every day and never get bored, and every trip feels like a special occasion when you're behind the wheel. If you've never driven a BMW, this is a superb first choice, thanks to faultless driving dynamics and it makes you realize that guys who take driving seriously designed every single component. With low mileage and excellent maintenance from new, this car is barely broken-in, yet costs less than half what a new Z4 might. If you like the styling, you'll love the performance, and at this price, it's hard to go wrong. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
