Special Mustangs don't have to cost six-figures and have Shelby badges. Just take a look at this beautiful, matching numbers, fully documented 1967 Sport Sprint coupe. With very nice documentation that include the original window sticker, dealer order form, dealer invoice, bank paperwork, owner's manual, and TWO warranty cards, this is an incredible find for automotive archeologists. It's also a great car to drive, with a peppy 289 and a handsome Arcadian Blue paint job. If you're looking for something special that doesn't cost as much as a college education, this might be it. With documents, it's equally important to ensure that the door tag is correct. Here's the information: 7T01C280696 7 1967 model year T Metuchen, New Jersey assembly plant 01 Hardtop C 289 cubic inch V8, 2-barrel carburetor 280696 Sequence number 65A Body style (coupe with standard interior) F Color (Arcadian Blue) 2B Trim (Blue standard buckets) 07U Build date (the U is unusual and may be a factory mis-stamp) 21 DSO (Atlanta) 0 2.79 standard differential W C4 3-speed automatic The Sport Sprint package was really a combination of commonly ordered options and was a follow-up to the popular package offered in 1966. The big news was that it could also be ordered with a V8 engine in '67. It's an unusual little footnote to this Mustang's history, and certainly adds to its appeal. The restoration was done to a good standard, especially considering this is a standard coupe and not a convertible or high-end fastback. Body panels are straight and well aligned, and the paint is vivid and bright, which is perfectly appropriate for a '60s Mustang. The standard bucket seat interior was anything but ordinary, with great detailing and comfortable seats front and rear. Although the original specifications called for blue, the restorer's choice of black instead provides a little contrast that dresses up the coupe, and nobody can argue that black isn't handsome. With the color change, you know that everything is new, including the seat covers, door panels, dashboard, and carpets. There's a handsome wood steering wheel that would be right at home in a Shelby. With A/C and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo with remote, this is also a fantastic cruiser that can make long highway trips feel effortless. Power comes from the original, factory-installed C-code 289 cubic inch V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor. Fully rebuilt and nicely detailed, the engine wears a coat of Ford corporate blue paint, covering items like the original air cleaner, valve covers, and intake manifold. A correct 289 decal was installed on the air cleaner lid for authenticity's sake, and there's a notable lack of aftermarket parts suggesting that someone cared about making this one look right. Of course, you can't miss the massive A/C compressor up top, which has been restored to 100% operational condition. The chassis is also incredibly clean, with solid floors and rebuilt suspensions fore and aft. The original C4 3-speed automatic still lives behind the engine, and drives a detailed 9-inch rear with 2.79 gears inside for easy high-speed cruising. A new dual exhaust system sounds great, and there are fresh shocks all around. A set of handsome Magnum 500-type wheels wears 205/70/14 Cooper radials that really stuff the wheel wells. It's incredibly rare to find a highly documented car like this, and the fact that it's a Sport Sprint coupe only makes it more unusual. Thanks to the V8 engine and A/C, it's also a pleasure to drive, and with a quality restoration, one has to wonder how much was invested-my guess is more than twice the asking price. So if you're a fan of the unusual, or if original documentation is important to you, this is a car that deserves a closer look.
