Known History

West Coast Classics is proud to present a great daily driving example of this original California rust free 1964 Buick Riveria coupe with its original 425/340HP 'Wildcat 465' engine with only 51K original but undocumented miles, automatic transmission and fully loaded with factory options including power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, power drivers seat, custom wood veneer console and dash trim, tilt steering wheel and finished in original factory 'Arctic White' color paint (Code C) with the optional custom ordered interior of Baronet Cloth inserts with vinyl bolsters in 'Medium Blue' (teal) color trim interior and (Code 611) and original factory sculptured steel wheels.

Purchased by most recent southern California owner from a long time owner from California. The floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free and the car has had no signs of any major accidents of any kind. The car looks impressive with a decent but older re-paint in it's original factory 'Arctic White' color paint and the 'Medium Blue' interior is in fair condition with only minor imperfections noticeable upon close inspection. The original 'Wildcat 465' 425/340HP 4 barrel engine is extremely strong and powerful and this particular car drives well although it has been sitting for a while before we purchased it and it may need some further work to be considered a perfect driver. We have had the car serviced at our mechanic where we performed a safety check and installed new front shock absorbers, new strut rod bushings, a new sway bar link kit, two wheel alignment, new AT pan gasket, new belts and new front brakes. (Cost $870.13). Records available. The original California black plates for the car are available and will be sold with the car although the car has been issued new Californian plates which are now on the car as the original front black plate was missing when registered by the previous owner, but it has since been located.

As previously stated the car has rare factory options of air conditioning, tilt steering column, power steering, windows, drivers seat and brakes and it's original 'Buick' radio. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, there are no noticeable oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool! The car was appraised in 4/2010 by the renown 'Classic Auto Appraiser' Jeff Hyman with a fair market value of $24,500 and we have the appraisal report in hand. Jeff is a very experienced appraiser and has had many articles printed by several prominent automotive publications including 'Road & Track; Street Rodder; Vette; Super Chevy; Chevy Classic; DUB; Super zrod; Lowrider; Classic Truck; Super Chevy; Mustangs & Fast Fords;' and is apparently the only appraiser in the country authorized by the Boyd Coddington family to certify, authenticate and appraise Boyd's hundreds of unique creations.

This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving example of a rust free 1964 Buick Riviera with only 51K original miles with it's highly desirable 425/340HP 'Wildcat 465' V8 engine! Although obviously far from a concourse example, this remains a very rare and highly desirable and collectible example of one of the outstanding GM designs of the sixties, a car for Buick's most affluent customers, reflecting the styling supremo of Bill Mitchell with a masterful blend of curves and razor-edges respected by an army of industrial designers as an architectural landmark of the U.S industry and which has high repute amongst collectors for both it's beautiful lines and smooth fast performance for a luxury coupe. "One of the most beautiful cars America ever built" as stated by none other than Sergio Pininfarina of Ferrari design fame at it's debut at the Paris auto show in 1963. This landmark design of 1963-64 would continue for only two years until 1964 before a hidden headlight change in 1965. The legendary 'Wildcat 465' 425 4 barrel V8 is very fast (the '465' refers to 465 lbs of torque) and are an absolute joy to drive.

In summary, this is one great daily driver or the perfect candidate for the enthusiast to fully restore of a stock and original and increasingly desirable and collectible 1964 fully loaded Buick Riviera! A sure-fire investment that's sure to appreciate over the years for any classic American sixties car collector or simply any Buick enthusiast!
