I don't think there are many who will argue that the 1968-1970 Dodge Charger isn't one of the most handsome muscle cars of all time. With chiseled flanks, that way-too-cool front end with the hidden headlamps, and those dramatic sail panels framing the rear window, it's like rolling testosterone. This big block powered 1968 Charger has been restored and refinished in its original QQ1 Bright Blue paint with an incredible blue interior that looks cooler than you can even imagine. Add in factory A/C and power steering and you have one extremely handsome coupe that's a pleasure to drive. When the owner found this car, it was a solid car that someone else had started restoring, so he picked up the ball and ran with it. Great gaps mean that they took their time and did it right, and the finish suggests that there was a lot of effort invested in the finish. The paint itself is two-stage urethane, which will look this awesome practically forever with just a modicum of maintenance, and the black bumblebee stripe out back gives it just the right amount of aggression without being overbearing. The headlights work, the grille is in great condition, and who doesn't love those four individual taillights out back looking like the exhaust ports from a fighter jet. That interior I mentioned is simply spectacular. Done to OEM standards using correct materials and patterns, the blue buckets with black inserts are very rarely seen today. Those splits in the seat covers were more style than comfort in 1968, but who can argue with how cool it looks? Dark blue carpets keep it from being too pastel inside, and the matching door panels and dash pad help reinforce the two-tone theme. With a slick center console and cool chrome shifter that's pure Mopar, it's a gentleman's hot rod that is luxury car comfortable inside and 100% performance under the hood. The original Music Master AM radio still lives in the dash, and the gauges appear to be completely original. I can think of few better places to conduct the serious business of driving than the cockpit of an early Charger. That's even more true when said Charger is powered by a 383 cubic inch V8. The A/C compressor dominates the engine compartment, and I have to give the restorer kudos for retaining it; far too many guys take the easy way out and just hack out all the A/C equipment during a restoration. There's a dual snorkel air cleaner up top wearing what might be a coat of Chrysler Turquoise, and the original style cast iron exhaust manifolds flow almost as well as headers, so there's no need to upgrade. A 727 TorqueFlite transmission handles the gear swaps, feeding a Chrysler 8.75-inch rear hanging on original leaf springs. The floors and subframes appear to be wearing original undercoating, and it's in remarkably good shape for its age. A new dual exhaust system sounds amazing and fits snugly under the car, and terminates in correct polished tips below the rear bumper. Four gorgeous chrome Magnum wheels wear recent Uniroyal white letter radials, so it rides and handles like a much younger vehicle. It's rare for Chargers this nice to remain on the market for long. There's always a long waiting list of guys hungry to add one of these to their collection, and we have trouble keeping them in stock here at Streetside Classics. This one is no exception, and we figure it's only a matter of days before someone calls and snatches it up, so if you're interested, you need to move quickly. Call now!
