Produced for only two years, 1954 and 1955, the MG TF represents the highest development of MG's famed T-series sports cars. The TF is lower and more streamlined with a raked but traditionally-shaped grille and headlights faired into the catwalks between the grille and fenders. It retained MG roadster's characteristic cutdown doors and continued the coil spring independent front suspension of its predecessor the TD. It also was more highly tuned, bringing the 1,250cc XPAG engine's output to 57.5 horsepower, modestly improving acceleration that was so important in the American market. This 1954 MG TF is very attractively liveried in a bold, bright maroon with biscuit leather upholstery and a tan cloth top and is outfitted with chrome centerlock wire wheels, blackwall Michelin radial tires, wind wings, luggage rack, fender mirrors and Lucas fog lights. The engine bay has been done right and is brightened by an aluminum valve cover and engine block side cover. There are tools in the underhood box and side curtains for inclement weather. It is an older restoration that has been done right, then driven and used enough to give it the beginnings of an attractive patina. The color is especially attractive and give this TF unusual presence on the road as well as standing out in a lineup of T-series MGs.
