At its launch the Mercedes-Benz W123 set class leading standards in safety, comfort and reliability. Despite production having finished some 18 years ago, examples of the W123 continue in daily use all over the world. For good reason, the W123 was one of Mercede- Benz most successful ever models.

A976 DNN was supplied new to Mr. Douglas Whittle by B and K Thomas of Nottingham and was specified with an extensive list of additional equipment, including the attractive Lapis Blue metallic paintwork, electric sunroof and automatic transmission. The substantial history file documents regular service and repair work carried out by B and K Thomas during Mr. Whittles ownership, until the vehicle passed to his son Mr. Geoffrey Whittle in 2001. The following year the vehicle was acquired by the vendor, a known Mercedes-Benz enthusiast who had sought an original example of this model and, indeed, it still has its original Becker stereo cassette/radio, floor mats, first aid kit and owner's manuals.
