Specifications: Single-cylinder NSU engine with chain drive to front wheel.

Founded at the turn of the century as a knitting machine manufacturer, NSU expanded in the 1930s to become one of the world ĺ s largest motorcycle builders, primarily focusing on single-cylinder, smaller displacement machines. Motorcycle production was abandoned by the mid-1960s, however, as NSU redirected its focus on automobile construction.

This particular NSU Motosulm, finished in black with red pin striping, is a curious bicycle-like model powered by a single-cylinder engine with chain drive to the front wheel. The paint and brightwork have aged somewhat, although certain pieces, such as the handlebars, retain a very nice shine. The same, generally presentable condition is evident on the black leather seat, tires, wire wheels, and NSU engine, which is very clean, despite minor evidence of dirt and grime. Additional interesting features include a frame-mounted battery and tool pouch, parcel carrier, hand-operated air pump, horn, and a headlight and taillight.
