Subtle, but significant styling changes led to a record-breaking Cadillac production year in 1964. Now in its 17th consecutive year, Cadillac ĺ s characteristic rear tail fins were lower and receded further into the fenders. Its sharper fins, wrap-around front-end styling and full-length moldings provided all the Cadillac models with a longer, lower look.

In 1964, Cadillac built three different models in its Series 62 lineup, which included a two-door coupe and two four-door hardtop. Both a six window and a four-window, four-door hardtops were offered at the same $5,214 sticker price. The most popular model proved to be the four-window, four-door hardtop like the example offered here, of which 13,670 were built. All the 1964 Cadillac models were powered by a 340hp, 429 cubic inch V8 mated to the tried and true standard Hydramatic transmission. Only the DeVille models and Fleetwood Sixty Special models featured the new Turbo-Hydramatic transmission.

This very original 1964 Cadillac Series 62 Four-Door Hardtop has a mere 55,449 miles showing on its odometer. The overall body is straight and solid. The factory turquoise blue paintwork is in very good condition apart from some shrinkage, but requires a full cut and buff to revitalize its shine, or quick and painless re-spray. The original chrome and stainless requires some attention, but overall is very acceptable for an unrestored, unmolested example. The matching turquoise cloth and vinyl combination interior is original, as are the carpets. A professional shampooing and minor re-detailing is all that is required to bring the interior back to the unblemished level of the dash, headliner and most of the panels. The powerful V8 engine, engine compartment and trunk are original and as such display evidence of road use.

The standard Cadillac power and all its luxury features, plus full wheel discs, factory radio, Comfort Control and whitewall tires make this a comfortable, stylish and fast four-door hardtop for cruising. With its contrasting white roof, this classy and very original 1964 Cadillac Series 62 Four-Door Hardtop could easily be cosmetically enhanced or simply enjoyed as is.
