40bhp, 200.5 cu. in. four-cylinder inline L-head engine, three-speed manual transmission, solid front axle with transverse semi-elliptic leaf spring, live rear axle with transverse semi-elliptic leaf spring, four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 103.5"

This Panel Truck was acquired by Mr. Wiseman in 1997 from the Charlie Sens Antique Auto Museum in Marion, Ohio. It was originally owned by a gentleman in Columbus who made his living during the Depression sharpening knives, repairing shoes, and performing a variety of odd jobs. He often accepted eggs or other commodities in lieu of payment.

The truck ’ s body was likely supplied by Briggs Manufacturing and, in present condition, has been properly restored to its original outfitting. The quality of its restoration is generally quite excellent, and the black paint, in particular, has been polished to a smooth finish with little to no surface texture present. The whimsically misspelled lettering was professionally applied, and the black vinyl roof and sun-visor fastened to the windshield are as new. The relatively limited chrome is reflective of the car ’ s overall condition and has been polished to a lovely shine.

The seats inside the cabin are professionally upholstered in chocolate brown vinyl and remain in superb condition, as do the vinyl headliner and door panels. By contrast, however, the truck ’ s gloss black underside has not been detailed to show quality. The engine compartment and green engine block, on the other hand, have been detailed quite nicely and retain a very clean finish.

An assortment of original hammers, hand-held drills, screwdrivers, and other tools are present in the rear and apparently belonged to the aforementioned handyman. Additional accessories include stainless steel wire wheel spoke covers, a side-mounted spare tire, glass wind wings, and an externally-mounted bell, presumably for alerting potential neighborhood customers.

From its comical lettering to the authentic tools, Mr. Wiseman ’ s Model A exhibits a unique character that is complemented by a high-caliber, professional restoration and a charming story.
