It was not until October 1912 that Ford offered a factory built truck on the Model T chassis. Customers had the choice of buying a bare chassis, a Delivery Car (commonly referred to as a “ C-Cab ” for its distinctive semi- enclosed cab), or a Commercial Roadster – a flatbed pickup with a foldable top.

The 1923 Ford Model T Texaco Tanker presented here is a converted Roadster Pickup that still retains its convertible top. The Tanker was ushered into the Wiseman Collection in 2004 and has a known history that brings it back to Texas.

The overall condition of the Model T Tanker is quite good as it appears to have been restored relatively recently, at which time it was refinished predominantly in black with the exception of the red tank and the red wire wheels. This truck was never meant to be a concours quality show car, but rather an interesting collectible and perhaps parade vehicle, so as such, although the paint is relatively free of imperfections, it is evident that there was limited attention paid to properly prepping the truck before paint. The engine bay has been finished in gloss black and somewhat detailed. The engine block has new hoses, clamps and spark plug wires as well as a modern type alternator and starter. Behind the large Texaco scripted tank, at the very rear of the truck, a permanently mounted shelf contains a copper fire extinguisher and a variety of ancillary tanker related pieces.

Assorted Texaco Petroliana

Also included in this historic Texaco package is a selection of vintage service station accessories, all restored in Texaco livery. A Fry visible pump, two early gas pumps, a wheeled dual lubester and a single lubester, as well as an assortment of period gas cans and barrels nicely complement these vintage Texaco vehicles. They would provide the perfect finishing touch for a display in a museum setting or a historic collection.
