Most car guys know not to tangle with a first-gen Camaro on the street. With a wide variety of factory engine options, not to mention the world's biggest aftermarket, there's just no telling what they have hidden under the hood. Case in point is this Ermine White 1967 SS, which packs a thumping 454 cubic inch big block and it's clear that someone has spent a ton of money making it both beautiful and shockingly fast. The Ermine White finish on this car is extremely well done. White often hides a lot of sins, but on this car, the metalwork is straight and professionally done, with great fit and panel gaps, which is one thing white paint CAN'T hide. There's a certain industrial purposefulness to the white paint, and the effect is that you know you're looking at something pretty potent, but it doesn't shout about it. Up front, a cool blue SS stripe has been wrapped around the nose, a slick twist on the original look that doesn't give anything away. There's no way of knowing whether this is a real SS, of course, but all the signs are there, including the grille, SS badges on the fenders, and the two-element taillights out back. A cowl-induction hood was added during the restoration, and it is complemented by a factory-style ducktail spoiler on the trunk lid. That blue stripe on the nose is perfectly matched to the light blue vinyl interior, which has been restored to stock specifications. Fresh covers on the seats, new color-matched carpets, and proper door panels were installed, and the result is upscale and bright. A center console is always a welcome option, complete with a set of auxiliary gauges just ahead of the shifter for the heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic. This is a factory A/C car with modern components under the hood, and a newer AM/FM/cassette head unit has been slotted into the dash. That lovely wood-rimmed steering wheel is the perfect touch to the cool interior, warming it up just enough and creating an awesome contrast. Finally, the rust-free trunk has been refinished using correct spatter-finish paint. Don't let the 396 stickers on the air cleaner fool you, that's a full-sized 454 cubic inch big block and most likely it makes considerably more than the advertised 350 horsepower. The block is Chevy Orange, along with the stock valve covers, but the aluminum intake is by Edelbrock, and it's topped by a Holley four-barrel carb for RIGHT NOW throttle response. The A/C system uses components by Vintage Air and R134a refrigerant, so servicing will be easy in the future. A new master cylinder drives an all-new braking system, and Hooker long-tube headers dump into an exhaust system with crossover and Flowmaster mufflers. Rolling stock consists of fresh Rallys wearing 215/65/15 white-letter radials, which complete the look. While not exactly a sleeper, this extremely potent Camaro doesn't need to advertise its muscle. An extremely well done resto-mod that needs nothing to drive and enjoy. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
