Engine Specifications: 3,782 CC DOHC Inline 6-Cylinder Engine Three SU Carburetors 265 BHP at 5,400 RPM 5-Speed Manual Gearbox 4-Wheel Disc Brakes 4-Wheel Fully Independent Suspension About this Car: According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, this elegant E-Type was completed on April 27, 1964, and dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York in early May. On July 3rd, Dr. Howard M. Arnold of Phoenix, Arizona, purchased the factory-fresh 3.8-Litre Coupe, which was originally finished in the lovely Opalescent Silver Blue over blue color combination present today. It is believed that the Jaguar remained a West Coast car until 1988, when Patrick Ruster of East Tawas, Michigan, purchased it. Mr. Ruster was an experienced Jaguar owner and judge who, in 1989, began restoring the well-kept E-Type Coupe. However, it was not until 2004 that the majority of the work was begun in earnest. At that time, following a complete disassembly of the car, the engine, differential, suspension, electrical components and hydraulic systems were completely overhauled and refurbished as necessary. During the restoration process, the wiring harness was replaced and the generator substituted with a more reliable alternator system complete with negative ground. When the body shell was stripped to bare metal, the structure was found to be healthy and thus required minimal rust repair. Jaguar specialists Lindley Restorations Ltd. in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, refinished the bodywork and made a great effort to carefully match the paint to the original factory-delivered color. While this work was being performed, the chrome trim was restored to its former brilliance and the interior reupholstered using the most authentic materials available. In preparing the Jaguar for road use, Mr. Ruster incorporated several subtle performance upgrades, which make this early E-Type more versatile and enjoyable to drive. The addition of a five-speed gearbox, alloy radiator and Wilwood front-brake calipers make this 3.8-Litre Coupe an ideal candidate for vintage rallies and tours, yet these features do not distract from its correct appearance inside or out. Since the restoration work was completed in Summer 2009, the E-Type has been entered into three JCNA concours events where it scored 99 points on each occasion. Outside of these showings, the Jaguar has seen little use and is said to have covered approximately 200 miles on the open road. Rounding out the package, this 3.8-Litre Coupe is offered with a JDHT Certificate, an original tool kit, an owners handbook, a factory service manual, restoration receipts and photos, as well as concours judging sheets. Given its outstanding restoration, subtle improvements and eligibility for a remarkable number of events, this splendid E-Type represents an exciting opportunity to acquire a well-rounded and beautifully presented 1960s GT. A fine example in every respect, this sporting 3.8-Litre Coupe is sure to reward its new caretaker with its exceptional beauty and unforgettable dynamic character.
