Engine Specifications: 1,971 CC OHV Inline 6-Cylinder Engine Triple Solex Carburetors 125 BHP at 5,000 RPM 4-Speed Manual Gearbox Front Girling Disc Brakes, Rear Drums 4-Wheel Independent Suspension by Transverse Leaf Springs, Lower Wishbones and Girling Shock Absorbers About this Car: In1957, this lovely sports car was sold new in Los Angeles, California. Like many of the AC sports cars delivered to the West Coast, this car participated in some healthy competition as well as local racing events including the 1959 Willow Springs Hill Climb. In their day, Ace Bristols found a devoted following and were among the ?hot cars? of the late 1950s. Despite their small displacement, their road-holding, reliability and light weight made them extremely competitive in sports car racing. Not only were they quick, the AC?s graceful alloy coachwork instantly placed the Bristol among the most beautiful roadsters ever designed. When this car was acquired in 2005 from only its second owner, it was an extremely original example that was still equipped with its original engine and red leather upholstery. The alloy bodywork, which rarely survives well, was exceptionally straight. The car became the subject of a no-expense-spared, body-off restoration by Charles Crail of Santa Barbara, California, the quality of which is immediately apparent. The car is finished in an eye-catching metallic blue over red color combination that evokes the days of authentic vintage motoring, and its sleek lines are complemented by its beautiful wire wheels and correct Avon tires. The interior of this car is equally stunning. The red leather upholstery is beautifully appointed, the bolstered seats offer plenty of lateral support and the fascia is complete with the full complement of Smiths gauges. The dashboard also features some badges, the most interesting of which are a participant badge from the Willow Springs Hill Climb and one that reads ?Hollywood Custom ? 8029 Santa Monica.? The engine bay has the purposeful look of a lean British sporting machine just as it would have been prepared by AC. The proper ancillary components are present and a Lucas Sport Coil ? a popular sight on high-performance British sports cars ? provides the spark. The trunk and even the undercarriage are in the same superb condition, confirmation that no detail was left untouched during the restoration. Not only are AC roadsters among the most beautiful sports cars of their time, they are especially endearing to drive. A Bristol is an ideal companion on tours, such as the California Mille, the Copperstate 1000 or the Colorado Grand, and they are always competitive, sought-after entries for vintage racing. Offered with its top, side curtains and tonneau cover, it is without question, one of the finest Bristols currently available and should continue to please its new owner with its superb styling and brilliant performance. A beautifully presented and fascinating example, this lovely Ace Bristol will be a pleasing addition to any collection of pedigreed sports cars.
