About this Car:
According to an original factory data card, this handsome late Series One V8 Volante was originally finished in Mercedes-Benz Midnight Blue and upholstered with natural-colored hides and dark blue carpets. Completing inspection on September 5, 1986, the car was dispatched for the US a week later and was subsequently purchased by Santa Barbara, California, resident John Wallace through local dealer Gregg Motors.
Over the subsequent 14 years, this lovely Aston Martin was used sparingly by just a few owners and, in early 2000, it was treated to a full diagnosis and servicing by Autosport Designs of Huntington Station, New York. As reflected by receipts that accompany the car, Autosport discovered the car had been fitted with several desirable European-specification components including the carburetor air-box linkage and stainless steel exhaust system. In addition to mechanical servicing, Autosport re-varnished the elegant burl-walnut veneers that decorate the interior dash panel and center console. Sold a short time later to Adam Kulick of New York City, the Aston Martin was returned to Autosport Designs for mechanical work that included rebuilding the brake master cylinder and installing new suspension bushings, shock absorbers and a starter.
Recently prepared once again by Autosport, this car has been treated to a comprehensive cosmetic restoration that has faithfully renewed its original livery. The walnut trim was reconditioned, a new blue Mohair convertible top was installed and the interior was reupholstered in tan leather with blue piping and Wilton wool carpets. The exterior was similarly refinished in the original color of Mercedes-Benz Midnight Blue, while attractive European-style chrome bumpers were fitted. Mechanically, the brakes and suspension were serviced, the steering box was resealed, the belts and radiator hoses were replaced and a new fuel pump, battery and spark plugs were installed.
Currently showing less than 48,000 original miles, this sporty V8 Volante is one of only 656 examples of the handsome Series One model that was produced between 1978 and late 1985. It features all power amenities, including power windows and power top, and is a well- documented example that is accompanied by numerous service receipts and copies of original factory records. With its powerful Vantage-tuned V-8 engine, this car is the ultimate evolution of Aston?s elegant open-top muscle car, one that is an essential acquisition for any serious collector of English sports cars or post-modern muscle machines.
