1973 Porsche 911 SE 2,4 litres Coupé "Almeras"

If there is one car that is a legend, it is the Porsche 911. To such an extent that, almost 50 years after it first appeared, it has been given a new lease of life : the 2011 generation is the sixth of this mythical machine...It is a car of noble descent, whose flat six engine has been incredibly well designed, and which has never stopped evolving, increasing in size, sophistication and power. As for its sporting qualities, the 911 has a build quality and robustness that are rare in this category of car.

The car in the sale is a 2.4-litre 911S, one of the most emblematic models in this family of sporting legends. It retains the pure form of the early models, and, weighing just over a tonne, this car with 2.4-litre fuel-injection engine, remains exhilarating, some forty years after leaving the factory. This example has also benefitted from preparation by the Almeras Brothers, top Porsche specialists whose cars have won countless laurels in competition.

The preparation of this 911S has focused on mechanical work and the interior, including the fitting of a roll cage, bucket seats, sports steering wheel, and exterior cut-out. The book "La Réussite Porsche", by Jürgen Barth, tells us that the car was built in 1972 and that its engine dates from the same year. The owner has maintained his car to a very high standard. Thus, a 2009 invoice for €17,775, gives details of a complete overhaul including a gearbox rebuild, and a second in March 2012 for €3,500 covers its major annual service. All this work was carried out in the Almeras workshop. The car has covered less than 500 km inbetween these two dates, and the odometer today reads less than 90,000 km.
