From its motorcar production in 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The finest Bentleys of the post-war period were designated 'Continental'; a title which was re-introduced in 1984 in the form of the Bentley Continental Convertible and an example of which from 1991 is available today. This Bentley Continental was powered by a 90 degree V8 engine incorporating an aluminium-silicon alloy block, aluminium cylinder heads and cast iron wet cylinder liners. The bore was 4.1" and the stroke was 3.9" giving a total of 6.75 litres. Fuel was supplied via a Bosche MK-Motronic fuel injection system with drive provided via a four speed (plus reverse) automatic GM Hydromatic gearbox with a factory top speed quoted as 131mph. Designed by John Blatchley and produced by the renowned coachbuilders Mulliner/Park Ward, this Bentley was first registered in 1991 and was originally supplied by Romans International of Farnham with a continuous service history to date; the most recent of which include stamps from Broughtons and highly respected specialist, P&A Wood verifying the incredibly low mileage of just 33,000.
