SS 1 Four light Saloon, year 1934. Colour two tone green over black with a pale brown (cognac) leather interior. This fine and scarce automobile is in excellent condition.
This SS 1 Saloon was sold new in England. In the fifties of the twentieth century the automobile was shipped to New Zealand. In New Zealand the car was owned by the same person for twenty years. The owner had the car extensively restored and he took excellent care of it ever since. The restoration was carried out very well looking at the current condition! The six cylinder engine runs very smooth and the car steers, shifts and brakes like a good SS should.
In the thirties of the twentieth century the SS was a sportive and comfortable car ahead of the competition. After world war II SS was named Jaguar. This very scarce pre was classic is mentioned and shown with photographs in the book 'Forerunners of Jaguar'.
The looks of this saloon are very elegant because the car looks stretched and low. The 'art deco' interior style is absolutely ravishing. These SS cars are very seldom on offer; you found an excellent specimen at Smiths-Veglia!
