This fine automobile is in superb condition. The bodywork was, were needed, restored professionally by specialist Martin Dijkhof in the Netherlands. This Maserati Indy was sold new in the USA and the odometer shows only 37.000 miles. This is probably the true mileage considering the overall condition of the car. The interior is in magnificent condition and fully original. Only the carpet at the drivers side shows some stains. The 4.9 Litre V8 engine is very powerful and it runs like new. The touch and feel of all mechanics are crisp, the car handles, steers (power steering), shifts and brakes absolutely perfect. The sound of the impressive engine adds great thrill to the driving experience with this Italian thoroughbred.

Known History

The Maserati Indy was presented on the 1968 Turin motor show in Italy. The Indy was the successor of the Maserati Mistral and it was marketed as a 2+2 model next to the Maserati Ghibli.

The Maserati indy was designed and built by Vignale. Between the years 1968 and 1974 1136 cars were built with three different engine capacities. The earliest models were fitted with a 4136 cc. V8 engine, the latter models featured 4719 cc. and 4930 cc. power plants. The engines sported four overhead camshafts and the power output varied between 260 and 335 bhp.

The Indy could be bought with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 3-speed automatic. Depending on the specifications a Maserati Indy was capable of reaching top speeds between 245 and 256 km/h. (153 and 166 mph.) With a little effort four grown people were able to enjoy the ride in this relatively spacious 2+2 coupe model.
