OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

This 1940 Ford Standard Coupe is rare indeed. It was put in storage in 1941 with approximately 7,000 miles on the odometer by the original owner. Fifty years later, upon his death, the car was sold to a local Ford mechanic who brought it back to life. He disassembled the engine, thoroughly checked and cleaned and reassembled it, replaced the original wiring loom that mice had chewed on and over the next sixteen years put another 2,000 miles on the odometer. Nick Alexander became the third owner in 2007. To enhance the otherwise excellent driving and handling characteristics of this 9,200 mile, 67-year old Ford, a Columbia two-speed rear end was installed. The interior is as you would expect of a car with such low mileage. However, during 50 years of storage the exterior of the car suffered and has numerous paint issues and dings. It was decided to leave the body in its original as found condition and enjoy it as is. In 2010 the coupe was driven by Tim Krehbiel, Alexander Restoration Manager from L.A. to St. George, Utah and back to receive a Rouge Award from The Early Ford U.S. Club. And he commented it was like driving a new 1940 Ford. The coupe currently has 11,487 miles on the odometer. The original purchase order showing that George Fulmer bought the car new from The Frederick Motor Co. in Frederick, MD for $741 on May 24, 1940.
