1964 Genie Formula B Racecar Genie racecars don?t have chassis numbers White with Grey Accents
The Genie racecars were built by Huffaker Engineering in Northern California, USA. They are most widely known for their small and large bore sports racing cars built during the 1960s. In total, 80 Genie cars were built, and there were no chassis number assigned to any of the cars.
This car represents the only purpose built Formula B car built by Genie. It has a unique design based on a fiberglass monoque. It was built in the US, but exported to Europe in the 1960s and raced in Formula 3 by Woody Harris. The car was raced in the 1960s, 1970s, and into the early 1980s as a historic car before being bought by the current owner out of the U.K with the assistance of Bob Yarwood who then performed a comprehensive restoration.
The restoration was both cosmetic and mechanical. The 1600cc twin cam Ford engine and Hewland Mk. 5 gearbox were both removed, disassembled, inspected, and reassembled by Yarwood. All the suspension members were polished. New rod ends have been fitted where necessary. New hoses were fitted and other soft components replaced. The Lockheed master cylinders have been replaced, along with selected brake lines. The original Airhart calipers look to have been serviced. The oil and overflow tanks have been attractively polished, along with the wheels which have painted centers to match the accents on the bodywork. Racetech mirrors and gauges have been fitted. New belts and a new battery were just installed. It has not been raced since the restoration was finished.
The car sits on Avon 7.5/12-13 front tires with 9.2/22-13 rears. With the car comes an additional starter battery. A comprehensive spares package is available at the additional cost of $5,000. This car is eligible for HMSA club events, CSRG, VARA, SOVERN, SCCA vintage, and HSR venues. With larger tires and more power, it will effortlessly beat Formula Fords and Formula Juniors from the same era.
