Cars like this stunning 1965 Mustang fastback don't happen by accident. It takes planning, vision, and a liquid-cooled credit card to build a car this nice, this fast, and this well-executed. From the gorgeous paint to the rumbling 347 stroker motor under the hood, it has been thoroughly massaged and taken to the next level in every possible way. There's really no way to make a Mustang fastback look bad, but wow, the metallic burgundy paint on this one looks absolutely phenomenal! Sure, it's a modern hue with a ton of metallic and maybe a hint of pearl in it, but it's so deep and lustrous you almost want to stick your finger in it to see if it's still wet. And if you're going to attract all this attention, you had better get the sheetmetal underneath right, too, so a lot of effort went into prepping the bodywork. Gaps are even all around, the doors fit beautifully, and they didn't take any liberties with the tidy original shape. Heck, even the hood is stock! Instead, they wisely chose to make the paint do all the work, and it paid off with a car that will make people do a double-take and draw them in and they won't even know why. It's just beautiful. The largely stock interior has been restored to show standards and shows nary a mark on any of the upholstered surfaces. Look closely, however, and you'll see that the low-back buckets have been heavily bolstered to help hold you in place during aggressive maneuvers-with this car's considerably higher limits, you'll be glad for it. The original gauges have been replaced by modern instruments that fit well and look suitably racy without being obviously new. The lovely wood-rimmed steering wheel feels great in your hands and takes you back to the '60s, while the center console is fully restored. An AM/FM/iPod stereo head unit is in the dash, with speakers throughout the passenger compartment, and the trunk features a neatly-fitted original-style mat. There's no mistaking the 347 cubic inch small block under the hood. It offers the exterior dimensions and weight of a 302, but the long-stroke engine builds torque effortlessly and moves the lightweight car almost like a big block. Full of goodies like an MSD ignition, a programmable TBI fuel injection system, and ceramic-coated long-tube headers, it cackles and barks like a full-race piece, but keeps its cool thanks to a massive aluminum radiator. On the dyno, this engine makes 360 horsepower and a towering 400 pounds of torque! It's linked to a built C4 3-speed automatic and a Mosier 9-inch with 3.70 gears on a limited slip. Upgraded rack-and-pinion steering improves precision, and vented, cross-drilled Wilwood discs are fitted all around. Those 16-inch polished Torque Thrusts fill the wheel wells, even wearing relatively modest 215/60/16 BFGoodrich radials. Fully sorted with all the manuals and paperwork included, this is a resto-mod you can enjoy both on and off the street. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
