If you're shopping for a Chevelle, you can score some huge bargains in the post-1970 models like this 1971 hardtop. It offers same handsome body with arguably the best-looking front-end of the series, all for a price that's a fraction of its 1970 siblings. For cruising, this one is hard to beat. The cowl tag says this one was originally two-tone white over Burnt Orange, but during the restoration they deviated just a bit and went with Hugger Orange instead. The result? A classic Chevelle look that just screams high performance. Workmanship is good throughout, although this is a car you'll want to drive instead of show. A proper cowl-induction hood with locking pins gives it an aggressive look that could have come from the factory, and the stripes follow the original SS pattern front to rear. It was upgraded to SS specs during the build, so that means a blacked-out grille, SS badges on the fenders, and a matching emblem on the rear bumper. And speaking of bumpers, these have been refinished so they're in great shape, along with the rest of the bright trim. If you want to get noticed, there aren't many better ways to do it than in a Hugger Orange Chevelle SS. A fresh white interior has been fitted as well, and while it looks almost too clean to sit in, it's extremely comfortable. New seat covers over fresh foam, crisply rendered door panels, and new black carpets throughout give it a new car feel. You'll note that the color change was thorough, as all the nooks and crannies are proper Hugger Orange, and new weatherstripping was used throughout the car. The basic Chevelle dash doesn't offer much useful information, so a column-mounted tach and auxiliary gauges below the dash have been added. The factory-issued AM radio was kind of a dud, so Alpine supplied a new AM/FM/CD stereo head unit, which feeds a pair of powerful Pioneer 6x9s in the rear package shelf. And if you're looking for an ultra-clean platform, this Chevelle delivers-just check out that spotless trunk! However, if you do decide to head to the cruise night to show off your new Chevelle, make sure you open the hood, because the 350 cubic inch V8 is beautifully detailed. Against the satin black inner fenders and firewall, the Chevy Orange block really pops, and along with a bunch of chrome it has a highly polished look that will definitely attract attention. An Edelbrock intake and a Holley carb deliver the fuel, with long-tube headers and twin Flowmasters handle the exhaust, and for a little extra attention, there are cut-outs to really let this sucker breathe. A TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear are reliable links in the powertrain, and the ultra-clean undercarriage means this car was never rusty. And it sits just right, thanks to a set of cool American Racing wheels wearing 245/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials. This Chevelle represents a ton of vintage muscle and timeless style for a very reasonable price. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
