Everyone has their favorite muscle car, but quite honestly, few could match the Buick GS's muscle. With a towering 510 pounds of torque, it was arguably the fastest machine on the streets. This stunning 1970 GS455 is a stunning and unusual example that has already won top awards from the GS Club of America and the Buick Club of America. Repainted in Burgundy Mist and dressed for success, the big Buick was upscale instead of a street brawler, and brought serious class to a segment that seemed to only care about horsepower. The restoration brought this one to better-than-new condition in every way, and having been driven less than 2000 miles since it was finished, it remains an exquisite show-stopper today. You know what it takes to compete at the highest levels, and the BCA's 400-point judging system is one of the most rigorous, so every detail had to be right. It also means that the bodywork has to be laser straight, the paint nearly flawless, and all the little details exactly as the factory made them. The unique GS grilles are superb, the red-accented rocker panel trim is bright, and the contrasting white top adds to the good looks. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone looking at this car that it's a show-winner. Buick's big advantage, aside from massive torque, was its luxury background. No longer did you have to suffer in discomfort to own the fastest car in town, and the gorgeous white bucket seat interior invites you to drive. In truth, it's so spectacular inside that you'll be inclined to wear a clean suit before climbing aboard, but once you're there, you'll find beautifully refinished gauges, a restored center console, and accurate components throughout the interior. The lone deviation from stock is an AM/FM/MP3 stereo head unit in the dash, but someone went to great lengths to give it a factory look. Heck, even the reproduction floor mats are exact copies of the originals, complete with the Buick tri-shield emblem in contrasting white. The trunk is fully detailed with a new mat and a bias-ply spare tire under the original cover. The GS's claim to fame was the massive 455 cubic inch V8 under the hood. This one has been punched out .038 and sports a set of aluminum heads, so the most potent engine in 1970 is even more threatening today. Dyno tested at a remarkable 507 horsepower, you'll have no trouble dispatching lesser cars. Fully detailed with Dante Red paint on the block, a correct twin-snorkel air cleaner, and accurate finishes throughout, it looks like a show car. However, the long-tube headers, X-pipe, and Flowmasters also suggest it was built to rumble. The floors are spotless, the TH400 3-speed automatic has been rebuilt, and the 3.31 gears in the 12-bolt rear are a great solution to more than 500 pounds of torque. Gorgeous Buick Road Wheels wear correct reproduction G60-15 Goodyear polyglas tires to great effect. Gorgeous, fast, and expertly finished, this show-winning GS is what all muscle cars want to be when they grow up. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
