Engine Specifications: 3,442 CC DOHC Inline 6-Cylinder Engine Triple SU Carburetors 250 BHP at 5,500 RPM 4-Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive 4-Wheel Disc Brakes Independent Front Suspension Live Rear Axle with Semi-Elliptical Leaf Springs About this Car: Introduced in 1957, the XK150 was the last in a legendary bloodline and the culmination of over a decade of design and engineering upgrades, with its panoramic windshield, spacious passenger compartment, and high-performance engine. Unlike its predecessors, the XK150 Roadster featured a higher, subtler beltline through the doors, producing the distinguished XK150 profile. This beautiful XK150 S Roadster was completed in 1959 in British Racing Green and shipped to Kingston, Jamaica. It is then believed to have been purchased by Michael Tate of Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, and it remained in his ownership until November 2004, when it was sold to its current owner, a collector who launched an exhaustive search to find the perfect open two-seater XK150 S to add to his collection. Already undergoing restoration in Pennsylvania at the time of purchase, the new owner of this rare XK150 S brought the car to Mike Wilson’s Restorations in Visalia, California, to be completed. There, it underwent a systematic check to ensure that the car was as original as possible, right down to the hose clamps. As well as matching numbers for the chassis, engine, and gearbox – as accompanying documentation from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust attests – this car still features the original gold-colored Harry Weslake cylinder head and the three oversized SU carburetors, which differentiate the pièce de résistance “S” model from its peers. These upgrades, plus a higher compression ratio and more aggressive cam timing, boost the 3.4 engine from 190 bhp to 250 bhp with a top speed of 130 mph. Newly finished in British Racing Green with green interior, gray top, and whitewall tires, this car went on to win accolades at various JCNA events almost immediately, including the 2005 Concours with a score of 97.73 and First in Class at the 2006 Regional Championship with a score of 99.72. Due to the constraints of keeping a concoursstandard collection of automobiles, the present owner states that he has not driven or shown his lovely XK150 S as much as he would have liked in recent years, although it has been serviced as needed and carefully maintained to preserve it in prime condition with only approximately 47,000 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. Reported by the consignor to run very well on its most recent outing, this excellent example of the XK150 S not only represents the pinnacle of the exquisite and legendary XK line, but is also the perfect choice for the discerning Jaguar enthusiast.
