Engine Specifications: 331 CID OHV V-8 Engine Carter 2-Barrel Carburetor 160 BHP at 3,800 RPM 4-Speed Hydra-Matic Transmission 4-Wheel Hydraulic Drum Brakes Independent Front Suspension Live Rear Axle with Semi-Elliptical Leaf Springs About this Car: This beautiful example of Cadillac’s wildly appreciated and highly influential Series 62 Convertible Coupe displays impressive quality and has enjoyed a long period of care by a dedicated enthusiast of American classics. As a Series 62 model, this car features elegant details like chrome wheel discs, kickplates, and spear trim that adorns the fenders. More specifically, as a Convertible Coupe, this Cadillac came standard equipped with power windows, a power top, an all-leather interior, and a color-matched painted dashboard, components that all continue to present beautifully today. This particular example was further optioned with a radio, heater, and the Hydra-Matic transmission. Most importantly, perhaps, 1949 marked the first appearance of Cadillac’s long-running overhead valve V-8, a highly revered powerplant that lasted for 30 years, making this model significant as one of the earliest examples of the celebrated motor. Believed to have originally retailed in Colorado and to have lived the balance of its life in the famously arid state, this Convertible Coupe was purchased in 1990 by the consignor in freshly restored condition. As an expert in vintage American cars, the consignor was duly impressed by the convertible’s authenticity, which extended to details such as the correctly painted hydraulic motor for the power soft top, and the correct satin finish on the radiator. Pleased to add such a superlative example of the classic open-top Series 62 to his collection, the consignor has devotedly maintained and stored the Cadillac, starting it monthly to ensure functionality, and only enjoying drives on special occasions. In preparation for its current offering, the owner has mounted a new set of correct bias-ply whitewall tires, resulting in a post-war classic as worthy of stylish cruising as it is of field exhibition. Accompanied by an original owners manual, this Series 62 Convertible Coupe presents as ravishingly as the day it left the assembly line, its original shade of French Gray paint intoning subtle elegance. It is a stunning example of one of the American vintage car hobby’s most esteemed models, a certified Milestone Classic that offers its future owner the supremely luxurious experience of Cadillac cruising, or competitive exhibition at local concours.
