Engine Specifications: 1,582 CC Flat 4-Cylinder Engine Dual Zenith 32 NDIX Carburetors 75 BHP at 5,200 RPM 4-Speed Manual Gearbox 4-Wheel Disc Brakes Independent Front and Rear Suspension About this Car: This Car This sensational example of Porsche’s final open-top iteration of the venerated 356 displays the beneficial effects of a thorough restoration as well as a decade of care by a dedicated collector. As demonstrated by a certificate of authenticity from Porsche, this Cabriolet was originally equipped as a European example and is believed to have remained in Germany for many years. During the 1990s, the car was treated to a comprehensive restoration and imported to the US. Offered in Monterey, California, in August 2001, the car was acquired by an East Coast dealer who maintains about 70 cars on his personal museum-style floor for private showings. The beautiful 356 C remained in this ideal state of care for the following 12 years, being started and driven dutifully several times each year. More recently, the consignor undertook a number of measures to further ensure mechanical quality. At Radical Motorsports of New Jersey, the carburetors and brakes were rebuilt, while the engine was thoroughly tested and showed strong compression. A new exhaust system and axle boots were installed, while the ancillary mechanical and electrical systems were evaluated and freshened as necessary. According to the consignor, the car is well prepared and in good working order. Cosmetically, this 356 continues to present wonderfully with a pristine Haartz cloth top and boot, and a freshly installed luggage rack sourced from renowned Porsche specialists Stoddard Imported Cars. Since acquiring the 356, the consignor estimates that he has driven it no more than 500 miles. This well-maintained 356 C Cabriolet is one of the last 30 produced, and is therefore one of the final examples of the long-running 356 nameplate. Featuring the best qualities derived from nearly 16 years of refinement, particularly the all-wheel disc brakes, this 356 C is accompanied by an original owner’s manual in the proper vinyl jacket and a toolkit. It invites future ownership to indulge in Zuffenhausen’s finest vintage open-top motoring or to make a run at local concours glory, where this lovely 356 will be sure to strike the fancy of sports car enthusiasts.
