Engine Specifications: 3,782 CC DOHC Inline 6-Cylinder Engine Three SU Carburetors 265 BHP at 5,400 RPM 5-Speed Manual Gearbox 4-Wheel Disc Brakes 4-Wheel Fully Independent Suspension About this Car: Completely new automotive designs seldom earn the universal praise the Jaguar E-Type received in 1961. It is rarer still that the coupe and convertible versions share the spotlight equally. When the E-Type debuted in 1961, the motoring press marveled that the beautiful car looked and performed like the finest models from competitors, such as Ferrari, Maserati, and Aston Martin but at a fraction of the cost. Fifty-one years later, this assessment is no less true; the marvelous E-Type has aged to perfection, often noted as one of the most influential designs of all time. This impeccably restored E-Type was the subject of a restoration from 1999 to 2005, and has been thoroughly documented by scores of detailed photographs. The complete restoration was performed at RRSG Development of Vancouver and the car appears to have been a solid example from the outset. Ken Palm, the owner of RRSG, was an owner of this Jaguar as well and completed the restoration as his personal project. Each component restored appears as new, with beautiful factory finishes and plating. A fivespeed transmission, Federal-Mogul pistons, Iskenderian camshafts and valve springs, and a Fidanza flywheel were all added for an extra measure of performance. Mechanical work was performed by Silk Cat of North Vancouver, and the biscuit leather interior was sourced through nearby BAS Ltd. Jaguar Trim Specialists. In all, invoices totaling over $145,000 in labor and materials are organized and included with the car. The body was painted in a version of Jaguar’s Opalescent Maroon, which stands out as a particularly compelling aspect of the car. When seen on a show field in bright sunlight, there is a depth to the finish that puts this Jaguar in an entirely different class than most worthy competitors. Once completed, the coupe was displayed at Vancouver’s All British Field Meet in 2005 winning a Best in Class Award and additionally has at least one Best in Show award to its credit. The current owner, who purchased the E-Type in early 2011, has shown it at numerous concours in Southern California and has entered the car in JCNA meets, where it has earned high marks. The consignor has worked between shows to further improve the E-Type since his purchase, correcting tiny details that have caused minute score deductions. Strictly a two-seater, this E-Type is an outstanding example of the earliest and purest design of Jaguar’s landmark coupe, and is ready to continue its show career while providing spirited drives on rallies and tours.
