Engine Specifications: 5,474 CC DOHC V-12 Engine Bosch Motronic Fuel Injection 485 BHP at 7,000 RPM 6-Speed Manual Transmission 4-Wheel Vented Disc Brakes 4-Wheel Independent Suspension with Coil Springs and Electronically Adjusted Shock Absorbers About this Car: The 550 Barchetta is a purebred limitedproduction roadster, first introduced at the Geneva Salon as the flagship of the 2001 Ferrari line. In a bid to produce the ultimate two-seater roadster, Ferrari conceived a machine that accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph. With a staggering 485 bhp, the question is not what the 550 can do, but rather what it can’t. A design that is underscored by its predecessor (the 550 Maranello) the Barchetta presents several unique features, including a raked windshield that is almost 5" lower than the coupe and twin faired-in roll hoops behind the cockpit, emphasizing its streetsport personality. Imperative to a convertible design, the Barchetta features a specially engineered support brace mounted in the trunk to bolster rigidity. As a cursory nod to the elements, the Barchetta also comes with a detachable top that can be stowed in the trunk, although it should be considered an emergency option; it is not advised for use at speeds over 70 mph. A look under the hood reveals a fearsome combination – the classic Ferrari roadster V-12 front engine with the block and head cast in light alloy, connecting rods in titanium, and aluminum-alloy pistons, providing robust power but minimal weight. Fuel distribution is governed by the Bosch Motronic fuel injection system and features a Tubi exhaust, which enhances the V-12’s distinctive howl. This stunning Rosso Corsa 550 Barchetta is upholstered in Charcoal leather with matching covered roll hoops. It comes equipped with large racing seats and the desirable Fiorano handling package, assuring that its raw power is discretely and comfortably controlled. Included in the Fiorano package is a set of red front and rear brake calipers, upgraded brake pads, suspension springs, stabilizer, and power steering unit, providing the driver with masterful control, agility, and response on the most challenging of courses. Documented as having just three owners, this insuperable sports car was first purchased by a Ferrari enthusiast in Connecticut, on July 23, 2001. The following year, it passed to a Floridian who commissioned a full service by Ferrari of Long Island in 2008, the invoices for which accompany the car. The 550 Barchetta was sold in 2010 with only 5,751 miles on the clock to the third owner and consignor, a car collector in Pennsylvania who had a world- class inspection completed – again by Ferrari of Long Island – in late 2012. At the time of cataloguing, this imposing Ferrari had less than 5,800 miles on the odometer, and in the words of the consignor, the car “runs and drives like new… in fact this car is new!”
